Thanks very much for providing the link here, YL.

I wonder who it is that says 'fantastic' at the end of the video?

What is that wee secret squirrel up to? Extended holiday? Hmmmmmm......is there some romance involved, I wonder?

Whatever he's up to, I hope he's having a well deserved good time.

Rock on Leon Jackson.

Well, folks...I have to say that in the sense of making the 'most' appeal to fans, they have done a better job of targetting with Alex's debut album cover than they did with Leon's....which as many of us have said, wasn't what we would have chosen.

Maybe Syco are just better at marketing females?

Sorry i haven't been on here for ages.

I haven't seen Alex's album but i agree with you Zipgypsy, of all the stunning promo pics Leon had taken last year why did they choose a dreary one that looked nothing like him. I'd have had the one where he's sitting on that fancy sofa or........just going to have another look, lol.

Maybe they are better at marketing those they want to make sure are a success. LOL

I reckon the key factor is that the kind of stuff the female XF winners have done is very 'popular'. Very commonly liked. The fact that they can do well (IMO, Alex will do very well) in a market already saturated with their type of stuff would indicate that.

As an example of a factor in that, both Leona and Alex are prime material for Radio One. Leon's genre wasn't and neither was Rhydian. That is significant in terms of single and album buying.

Leon's might have been more marketable if they had let him do more contemporary music. He said the reason he was allowed to take all that time putting the album together was so it could rival other stuff in the charts, but unfortunately, as much as we all love it, the album didn't have much chart appeal at all.

Bad ass boy is back by the way!

As Bob Dylan said

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win

For the times they are a-changin'.

Glad the lad is back amongst us all. As you say, YL.....they could have made a much more intelligent effort with Leon.

For example, I for one think that his recent renditions of 'Don't Call This Love' in a far more loose and acoustic style is waaaaaaaaaay more commerically contemporary than the album and stuffed shirt version (I still love it, but the image of Leon in those shiny suits.....eeek!). Imagine that version on his XF comeback last year....minus the shiny suit as well?

TBH, the closest I think we see the 'now' Leon on 'Right Now' is 'A Song For You'. That's the essence of his current style for me. With a few wee up tempo numbers, of course.

Oh absolutely.

I have to agree with you once again zip. LOL

You already know how I feel about A Song For You. The one track IMO that really shows Leon's voice off his voice the best and the amazing potential. (Remember how exciting it was when we heard Leon singing it in the shower? )

He obvously likes singing DCTL and Stargazing and wants to keep them on his list. He is constantly tweeking them so they will fit into the unique style and sound he is trying to create, which to me btw is unlike anyone else out there.

I can't wait for him to get his own music on the table.

In the shower ? WHEN WAS THIS ????? !!!!!!

Can't stop listening to his version of DCTL - the one he sang at Remix - this is the best he's ever sung it, ABSOLUTELY SUPERB (but Yorkielass knows what I think of that one and thanks to her for the link )

Hi Leonardos I think the problem was more to do with public perception of his album. I still think it's a damn fine album and I still think that jazz is Leon's forte. The right songs from the album such as Creative just weren't given enough radio exposure. A week or two on the A list of one of the major radio stations might have done the trick. I guess we'll never know.

I couldn't agree with you more...on both counts. The album is class and no one could do songs justice like he does. IMO es. It blows me away to think he was just nineteen when he made that album.

Leon certainly loves his jazz. Some of the covers he is using have that jazz edge to them so I won't for one won't be be surprised to see at least a couple of contemporary jazz songs on his album, and I will be very happy too.

No new news from Leon for a week now.

He must be working really hard on his songwriting - I can't wait to hear what he has come up with
