No....

In a word no! Almost all Eurosport digital services are encrypted - there is some FTA analogue still left at 19.2E.

But - if we ever get the Ethernet working - in the next update - do we think that we might be able to get Eurosport Player on the net? That could just be Bye Bye Sky!

In quotes from freesat they explicitly stated that non-free streamed content was a possibility.

Yes, some of us fill out a diary of what we watched for 1 week each month. At the end of the week there is a survey with more general questions about how satisfied we are with the service, what we would like to see more of etc.

Personally I'd welcome pay per view, what I object to is monthly subs, I currently use blockbusters for movies so if it's cheaper/better/easier than the trip to the shop then it'll get my vote.

I have been exploring options for watching Eurosport. At present I use some ancient analogue kit with a dish pointing at Astra1 at 19.2E connected to TV by scart. Works perfectly well but but I would like to remove the boxes and the LNB from the dish and get Eurosport HD in the future.
The options I have are:
1. Humax Foxsat UDR
2. PC with Windows 7 and a Linksys 2200 extender.
Both of these receive Freesat, but as other posts have already pointed out, Eurosport is not available, being available in the UK on DVB-s as part of a Sky package. It was suggested to me by Starburst on AVForums that alternatives might be to subscribe to a continental subscription service or use the player.eurosport.co.uk internet service similar to BBC's iPlayer. I took out a subscription for this internet service at £3.99 a month. I am currently following the Vuelta and so far I am not impressed with the quality. Also, whilst I can watch iPlayer on the main TV via the extender I cannot watch Eurosport in that way; I have to watch on my computer monitor. Also it appears that I cannot download and watch later as one can with iPlayer.
At this time I am still exploring options and will update this if there is any good news.
In the meantime, what do people use the CI slot on the Humax for?

I've got a DISEqC setup on my Humax with one dish pointing at 19.2e for the German Eurosport. The thing was that I was going to learn German but after a few attempts I've given up again.

This is partly due to the problematic way in which the PVR handles freesat and non freesat channels.

I can live without having a freesat style EPG for the German channels but if only there were more seamless integration I promise I would learn German

I too would welcome a pay per view movie channel - it's paying a sub for a lot of programmes I don't want to watch anyway that I object to. Presumably since the HDR already has a CAM slot this is possible - the main objection would be that it goes against the Freesat philosophy.

Have you ever considered online rentals, e.g., Lovefilm (I don't work for them)? One negative is that they are a subscription service which you say you object to. I use the lowest tariff (two videos per month). However, they also offer a "pay as you go" option. Not sure how constrained it is though. E.g., rent two videos this month and nothing again for a year? Is that possible?

I also still use Blockbuster but less frequently. The advantage of the online option is no late fees.

Anyway, re: TV, like you, I wouldn't object to a pay-per-view option. I always prefer control and flexibility. That's why I love Freesat+.

Or for £10 pm you could have any number of DVDs, but only 1 at a time. Other plans available.

if you have your computer or a wifi radio, you can get the english eurosport soundtrack, turn the german down, and away you go, only problem there is usually a 60 sec delay, but for cycling and motogp it is not a problem been using this way for years.

I have always wondered why there is an English sound track on the analogue transmission from Astra1, but not on the otherwise identical digital version.

Because the digital version is a mpeg compressed version of their analog version, Thus only one audio track present and mono Also why it looks like crap

What a good idea and very useful information! I can get Eurosport but thought I could only have the German soundtrack.

I have just found the sound track and am playing it through my wifi radio near the tv. Have I managed to enhance your system too? I am playing Eurosport chase play and pausing the playback for 55 secs or so. Meaning the sound is more or less perfectly synchronised. I used the adverts as a method to get it exactly right as you can easily tell if an ad is out of synch when it comes on!

The analogue version has both English and German sound tracks. Digital channels can carry two sound tracks.

Digital channels can carry far more soundtracks if required - EBS on 5E carries well over 20! (One for each of the official languages of the EU)

I don't have broadband yet so the commentary is going to be a little bizzare. Unless they switch on English commentary, and it is still free to air. I always thought they had English commentary as a default position for "all other countries" and surely they are not ditching all those Anglophones - surely?

I assume since you mention April 30 you are referring to the DSO in Germany - wrong forum on 2 counts - this is the Freesat+ forum and the subject has nothing to do with either Freesat or Freesat+. Try 'Non-platform specific satellite TV'.
However Eurosport is available fta at 19.2º on 12226 H with German sound track only. It is meant for Germany so why would they broadcast in anything else than German?

Perhaps because the equivalent analogue channel did. Eurosport Biava has an FTA English sound track. Sadly the picture itself is usually encrypted.
