I think we will all have to go to the stores and ask for a "long wait"

hehehe. It is almost becoming a cult.

But based on B_C' last indication of availability (unless I missed further updates), we still have until the end of the summer, which technically is still a small 3 weeks away...

Humax are not known for their reliability when it comes to meeting schedules.

I'll bet if you read carefully you'll see that nothing definite was said.

Beta trial starting September, figure two 3 to 4 week cycles, late November to early December for OTA ?

Yes, I thought that 'late summer' was a bit on the optimistic side.

That close to Christmas is a rather daft time to go for an OTA. If it introduced some serious bug for a proportion of user Humax would have to work at a pace a good deal faster than their usual, stately, crawl to get it corrected before Christmas or become very unpopular.

A version of the Series Link software was made available to members of hummy.org before xmas. It was not available OTA until mid January

What series link software ? Are we talking about a freeview box here, my HDR bought late November immediately updated its firmware and had series link from day 1.

Maybe bob_cat can offer a prize up to the correct guess on the date ....

Monday 16th November.

As far as I see it we haven't had a summer yet but might be blessed with an Indian Summer. If that's the case, we could be looking at Halloween. Scarry stuff eh?

I switched on at 3am & saw, on front panel, BBC1, the last channel I watched, but it was in a lock-up, remote off & on cured it. Not had that for a bit!

BUT if it had been downloading OTA what would I have seen?

I read somewhere here that interrupting an OTA could be bad.

isn't that when the HDR does its house keeping! I regularly see my HDR come on in the middle of the night (insomnia!), then switch itself off when done. I think it tidies up the HDD and creates icon clips for recent recordings that have been made etc.

Maybe your switching it on at 3am coincided with the unit doing its house keeping and created a lockup!

I've a feeling that you are right.
But again shouldn't there be a "housekeeping" label on the panel?

I'm more worried about interrupting the update, especially after sitting on the edge of my seat & not getting a sleep for 8 months!

If you are around the day the v04 update goes OTA manually update it during the day.
