You are mistaken that the killer wouldn't know who Chanelle was without her interviews. Early on in BB8, the press discovered what happened to Chanelle's birth mother and went to press with the whole sensational story, without her family's permission.

So all the killer has to do is an Internet search on his own name--which I'm sure he is free to do in prison--and the first thing he'll see is Chanelle's name--not through any of her own publicity, but through what the press discovered about her soon after she entered the BB8 house.

Also, the last time the killer was up for parole, Chanelle and her sisters made statements to the parole board about the devastating impact of their mother's murder on their family. I'm sure those documents are available to him in his file.

He didn't "happen to bump into" his first victim. He killed an elderly lady in her own home, stabbing her more than 70 times after breaking into her house. This is not a rational person we're talking about. In the late 1980s, he was able to fool a parole board into thinking he wouldn't kill again. Why should we believe that he is rehabilitated now? I don't see them letting Ian Brady, for example, out any time soon. People who kill for pleasure seldom stop of their own accord. They need to be kept away the rest of society.

Good luck, Chanelle. Ever the forgiving optimist, I see. That's a nice way to be in some respects, but a bit unrealistic in others. IMHO.

I agree with you. People who've killed more than once should never be released, but that's the state of the justice system in this country nowadays.

Thank goodness he wasn't in prison in Scotland. They would have released him if he'd had so much as a chesty cough.

Sadly I am coming to the same conclusion, Chanelle seems to have lost the plot in a lot of ways. either that or this is just another story for the mags.

The only connection has ever been made by either Chanelle or the press, it's just a publicity stunt by the papers, that's how they sell them, they don't report news, they creat it don't forget, I'm sure the feller isn't interested after all this time.

You are looking for a rational explanation of why he would or would not follow a given course of action. The killer is not a rational man. Who knows what he will do? That's what is so terrifying about him. I understand why Chanelle is afraid. He's a sadistic killer who enjoyed what he did so much that he stayed with the body of his last victim for a day and desecrated it.

You do know that people who kill for pleasure often keep tokens to remind them of their kill? A ring, an item of clothing, sometimes a more gruesome souvenir. Now here is Chanelle walking around, a young woman who looks quite like the last the woman he killed,and is in fact her daughter. Maybe he'd like to have a little look at her in person, as an aide-memoire? It's well within the realm of possibility.

I don't think people should judge Chanelle's fear unless a member of their family has been murdered in such a brutal way. Is it likely he would come looking for Chanelle? A rational man would avoid her to keep himself out of prison. But the risk of apprehension and punishment didn't stop him when he killed twice before, did it?

Chanelle wouldn't do any story for publicity, don't think so anyway.

Can't see him risking his last attempt at freedom by going anywhere near Chanelle, he will be watched anyway, so is unlikely that he will be just allowed to go where he wants.
But I'm sure the last thing on his mind will be a daughter of someone he killed all those years ago who was 6 months old at the time, he would have no interest in her at all as far as I can see.
Why would he?

The Daily Mail are taking a great deal of interest in Chanelle and Jack this week, not that I am complaining, its nice to see Chanelle out enjoying herself at last.

I just explained why. She's a living souvenir of what was probably one of the most thrilling, exciting moments of his life. But if you can't see why he might be drawn to her, that's OK. You don't need to. The only ones who need to be concerned about his future are his parole supervisor and Chanelle's family. Oh wait...and also every other woman in the UK.

Now now. It's just a few pounds. Where there's a will, there's a way. She's young and her baby's only nine months old.

Point A: I have no doubt he thinks about his last kill every day of his life. This is Criminal Psychology 101. Those thoughts alone put Chanelle in danger if he's free to reminisce about his moment of glory unconstrained by prison walls.

Point B: She could run off any extra weight by training for the Great North Run during the next few months. The metabolism of youth is a wonderful thing!
