Blanche's line of the year (Sunday's Corrie)
Meltdown
16-02-2004
Great line from Blanche last night as she was trying to persuade Tracy to admit to wanting her baby back: [re. the Croppers] "He's a weirdo and she's a man!". LMAO

I found that line funny too

even though I am a fan of the croppers

Yeh corrie is getting more funny nowerdays, for some reason...

i think it was "theyve already been told they cant adopt havnt
they....cos hes a loony and shes a man" said so seriously by blanche lol.

I think a really funny episode was the one with Peter Kay in....class!

Let's see....Kieran Roberts (the producer) leaves & the humour starts to come back......

Wonder whether those two are connected? <ponder?

The best ones in the last few episodes are Roy and Harold, sorry, Hayley , bumbling on about the baby:

Roy: Careful, she could still be slipperly;

Also Roy (Ticking it off his baby to do list): That will take effect immediately

Kieran Roberts' name was on last night's titles (I looked specifically because Bill Kenwright was complaining about him on Parky's radio show yesterday morning).

Kieran has definitely gone. My guess is that what we've been seeing recently has been produced by Carolyn Reynolds, or possible someone else.

When they got rid of Jane McNaught they left her name on the credits for ages, even though Carolyn was producing it, until Kieran was appointed.

It was a brilliant line - and delivered with perfection! It must be a pleasure gor an actress to have dialogue like that, I thought it was hilarious.

Blanche comes out with some corkers. I remember "I'm not having my great grandchild brought up by two men - even if one of them DOES wear a frock."

Totally agree. The excellence of Maggie's performance just underlines how awful Kate Ford is though.

I trust you were jesting there. It is blatantly obvious she is out of her depth with any sort of emotional storyline. I am fed up of her dry eyed crying, the screwed up face & the grinning and gurning at every moment. Her facial expression are often inappropriate for the dialogue she is speaking.

A deaf poster on another site commented that he was completely unable to tell what the character was meant to be feeling due to her vocal delivery. She cannot do intonation, inflection or emphasis to save her life.

The sooner she goes the better.

No I jest not lol I really think she is brilliant. I liked the way she was grinning at karen tonight when she was telling her what a shit Steve was - cos that is exactly how I would react when I am bricking it...

Another favourite of mines is when Steve came out with the one sentence explaining everything about him and Tracy to Andy - it was just said so seriously and it was so funny! - If anyone happens to have it on tape still (long shot) or can remember it, please post it!

Blanche does come out with the funniest stuff though!!

Yep, it made me lol. It went...

Steve to Andy: "You won't be able to handle it."

Andy: "You don't know what I can handle do you?"

Steve (in one breath): "All right...I got Tracy Barlow pregnant who stalked me, and then cancelled my wedding behind my back. I've got a baby daughter no one knows about that's being looked after by the Croppers. Roy thinks he's the father and so does his transsexual partner Hayley... I thought you said you could handle it."

Yes, I think this was the best line for a very long time. I watched it three times!

Also, I can't believe how good Steve is now. When he was doing the tough guy stuff a few years ago, I didn't think much of his acting. Now however he and Karen have become absolutely superb. They really work well together, and their facial expressions are terrific. But of course they do get some great scripts to work with.

I thought last night's Corrie was funny when Karen was threatening Tracey with her stilletto. Tracey said something like, "you touch me with that and I'll sue you for criminal injury." Straight away Karen came back with "dead people can't sue, Tracey".

Thanks, Anti Static - that's the one I wanted!

I also think the writing has got better. It seems like they've got a team of comedy writers in there in recent years. It's been a lot funnier than when I first started watching it! - In fact, with all the boring storylines now (Dev and Maya being the prime example!) that's about all that's keeping me watching - Blanche!

I thought Tracey's line on Monday was quite funny too:

"They've taken my baby, now they've taken my taxi!"

Indeed. A shallow side or just comedy? You decide...

dont get too deep, we are again in prospect of having people think this prog is real life, this is corrie, I watched the first episode in 1960, its still tops, nothing can now challenge it, the
opposition as lost its direction. I suppose some one will state
equal ops, however my colleagues who are from all genders
(4) think its fantastic, at least we can still laugh at ourselves.

I have been watching this program since the mid 60's (parental force) but honestly, over the years it has and still does go from strength to strength.

Karen beating Steve with her bouquet, Tracey stamping her foot at the fact that the croppers had her baby as well as the taxi, Steve confessing to his brother (that long one liner had me convulsed) and that is just this week.

Total class!

I think Corrie is hilarious. I watched the program about Steve and Karen on ITV2 last night and some of those arguements are so funny. Especially when Steve is running of down the road with the telly and Karen hitting him with her shoe and then banging on the door once he had shut it shouting at the top of her voice and when Steve and Karen were arguing in the flat and she threw a plate at him and he shouts That could of hit me.
And when Eileen hit him when he was pretending to have an affair so it looked convincing to be getting a divorce. His face had me in stiches and then when he just stuck his thumb up at Karen to say it was working.

I think they are one of my favourite couples in Corrie now and they seem to get on really well of screen after seeing them together on the special.
