She did this today on Good Morning America, she sang two other songs as well. Here's the video of her singing "I'm Every Woman"....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKJ00...=http%3A%2F%2F

This is painful to watch. Sure she has energy, but she is still speaking the lyrics, letting the audience sing most of it, and the tone of her voice is so....upsetting to hear.

I can't even comprehend how her once thick, powerful, warm buttery tone from the "AND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII", has gone to....this. She used to sing so effortlessly and gracefully.

I'm not really interested in range, just a nice singable tone. I have no idea how many times she must have attempted the songs in the studio for her album.

Also, if she is meant to perform on XFactor, how will she manage it? She can't really get upclose with the audience and ask them to singalong.

Her performances in 2007 and 2008 in Kular Lampur and Morocco were bad, but I thought after a full years of working on her album, it would be a bit better.

Whitney, how could your voice change so much?! Her old performances on youtube from the 90s are still great though; she really did have one hell of a vocal gift.

Thoughts?

I can't believe how bad her voice is, it's totally shot to pieces.

Apparently she didnt make it through the set and stopped. It is very sad but I have known for some time that her voice was damaged. Anyway no matter what she is still one of the greatest singers of all time.

Agree - her voice is not what it once was. I could say the same for Mariah as well but I don't want to instigate a flame war.

This is so upsetting - she can hardly hold a note anymore. I wonder what the other songs sound like?

I'm guessing she has vocal nodules. They are like little clumps that block the voice from functioning properly, caused by any of the following;

~ Excessive use of voice (Overwork)
~ Strain on the voice
~ Days without resting
~ Lack of Water and other fluids that help keep the voice healthy and moisturised

Alot of singers have them (hundreds in fact) Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, famously Julie Andrews who lost her voice completely in a operation to try and remove her nodules.

They are the result of someone not looking after there voice properly!!!

It's rather hard to actually hear her considering the view the camera is from with the audience. Is there a proper filmed verison where of course the audience noise will be lowered?

It is going to air today however it will most likely be dubbed anyway.

POor Whitney.

But I'm not surprised after all she's been through.

This is from 15th sept 2009 on Oprah. Dont think its dubbed as you can hear her take breaths. Still not as good as the old whitney but then she is alot older now.
