BT Nightmare
I have recently moved home (well about a month ago) and I requested to transfer my services, first of all I arranged the transfer I was told the current people hadn't arranged the disconnection but they would contact them.
Then next time I phone up the order has been cancelled so they eventually place another order which when I move in after waiting on the line to transfer into the number I was given I phone up and this was cancelled. They advised now that I have to pay £122 to activate when the line still had a dial tone and a number assigned. I speaks to someone else who advises that they could activate on 3rd Sept bearing in mind this was near the start of August. I accepted then got an offer from Virgin Media saying they could offer me a landline with Talk Unlimited for free so I went with that and cancelled the order with BT. I then phoned BT up to check the account was all closed which they advised the first time yes but then the next time they advised the account is still active. I then arranged for the line to be put on but they kept saying that there was never a line in my house and they will need to put a new line in. I made the order online with BT and cancelled the phone order with Virgin. I then get a letter saying that I have been given the connection for free but im now going into an 18 month contract and will no longer benefit from the discount for evening and weekends. Then today I plug in the phone to test the line its all working ok despite the engineer is due to come out tomorrow so I phoned up BT and they advised that the engineer wont be coming tomorrow now and everythings fine. BUT I will have to pay full whack for evening and weekend calls and my 18 month contract still stands. I am very annoyed with this nonsense from BT I should have stuck with the offer from Virgin as it would save me money. I think BT is one of the most incompetant companies going and I don't know how they can be allowed to trade like this. You get a different story everytime you phone up. Does anyone have any advice or is anyone who works for BT able to help me out?
