I see many sheeple have jumped on the latest bandwagon which is Sainsbury's new 1% milk.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ice-heart.html

I laugh at the fools who are taken in my such gimmicky products such as this. Come on, do you actually think you'll lose weight by switching from 2% to 1% milk? Give me a break. This is just another fad that shall probably die out, just like Atkins diet a few years ago.

I'll continue to buy blue milk (4%) for my cereals and semi-skimmed (2%) for tea and coffee.

If you want to lose weight, do more exercise and eat less cheeseburgers, sausages, cakes, chocolate etc. Don't try kidding yourself that switching milk will change your weight.

Goodness, there are far too many sweeping generalisations in that post for me to address at once, so I don't think I'll bother!

Why can't you spell Puddle?

Just wasn't sure if you realised how insulting your OP was, and that it was just one big generalisation! Obviously you didn't, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

You quite clearly can't.

Anyway, I am sure that people dont think they will lose weight drinking 1%, but hey the less calories the better, no? Every little helps, as Sainsbury's themselves say.

Oh ruddy heck, so it is! Well OK, give the milk a go, and try something new today Jemima, like Sainsbury's themselves say!

Think I saved that pretty well, wouldn't you say?!

Sainsbury's 1% Fat Milk, 4pint container for £1 (25p/pint)

That's good enough for me. And it might be part of the reason why sales are high.

But you will lose weight by consuming less calories won't you? Which you will do if you have 1% milk presumably?

Is that cheaper than the red, green and blue varieties?

Unless you drink an abnormally high about of cow's milk (unhealthy in itself) then the difference of 1% less fat will make no difference to one's weight.

I wouldn't know without looking at the calorie difference, any idea what it is?

Yes. considerably so.

Red label (skimmed) £1.53

Blue label (whole) £1.53

Green label (organic) £1.73

(prices taken from Sainsburysonline today)

Quite a saving over the week (especially for a family).

And a couple of months ago, they had some vouchers on the milk counter bringing the price down to 75p off the next purchase!

Most supermarkets have had a price war on milk recently, though this has now largely ceased. The war was mostly over the slightly smaller 2 litre bottles, but at 65p or 75p, this was a better deal than £1 for 4 pints.

As I said, that has now ceased but Iceland are currently selling 4 pints for £1, and it's all varieties. I prefer the semi-skimmed (green top) myself.

I certainly did not see any 2L at those prices in our Sainsburys.

No, I think Sainsbury's was the only one of the big four that didn't have those offers - Tesco and Morrisons most certainly did as I bought some from both myself, and I'm pretty sure I saw ads for similar deals at Asda.

What's with the new found outrage?
Sainsbury's have sold 1% milk for ages.

Blue - 4%
Green - 2%
Orange - 1%
Red - 0.1%

I buy skimmed milk - the 0.1% fat one. I couldn't bring myself to use full fat milk for anything these days (it's too creamy and I remember when I was growing up that if you left your coffee for too long, a skin would form - bleurgh!).

Sorry if that offends you OP. But less saturated fat is good for you, and of course it means there's less of my lovely brown body for you to get worked up about over in the politics forum.

I hardly buy milk these days, as I've gone off it lately - I live on my own and hate drinking milk which has been opened more than 1 day (it always smells off to me lol), so end up chucking loads away if I buy it for myself, so I just don't bother (I don't drink hot drinks with milk, and I hardly have cereal anyway). But, I have bought the 1% milk in Sainsbury's before and to me it tasted exactly the same as the 2%. So whether it makes any difference to your weight or not, I don't see the point in buying the 2% fat when the 1% fat tastes just the same and has the same consistency.

I'm confused by where the point of this thread is?

People are buying 1% milk, it is clearly slightly healthier than the others and people obviously want it, hence them buying it.

Where does it say switching to 1% milk will make people lose weight like atkins or any other diet? It's just another healthier option that people can buy if they want to or not, I'm not quite sure why the OP seems so angry about this?

JPD threads don't have a point, just some trolling, a daily mail link, and some retarded words. Best to ignore them.

That's the one I buy too now, as an alternative to skimmed (which I've bought for years) simply because it's cheaper than standard 4pinters. 2ltrs 1% milk - £1, or 4pints skimmed/semi-skimmed £1.53.

The point is Ms Pudleduck's all-round beef (pardon the food pun) with Sainsbury's. Check some of her older posts. It's not the milk per se, it's the actual store she dislikes. It's a little bit funny, I think anyway.

How rude are you? And it's always delightful to read people using the "word" "sheeple".
