Joe Calzaghe has apparently just split up with his girlfriend, so if Kristina's single that'd be my top tip for a little fun and games.

Hmmm, tricky to predict. I mean who would have predicted the Matt-Flavia-Vincent thing beforehand? Even the (supposed) Kristina-Vincent one surprised the heck out of me!

Anyway, this season I would place them in four categories

Not going to happen
Ricky/Erin - Erin's a newly-wed and look at Ricky's wife Hannah. By all reports they are pretty loved up as well
Lynda/Darren and Richard/Lilia - No way! Can't ever see Lilia or Darren doing the dirty
Martina/Matt and Jade/Ian - no for obvious reasons
Jo/Brendan - for once I don't see Brendan doing any chasing (no disrespect to Jo).

Unlikely
Zoe/James, and Chris/Ola - well I could be wrong but don't see James and Ola straying, plus there are rumours about if Chris is on the straight & narrow anyway, and Zoe is a new mum so presumably happy in her relationship.
Phil & Katya - I don't see it. His past points to a good possibility but I remember reading that his (new) wife is a tough cookie and the type that would have his guts for garters if he tried.
Natalie/Vincent - despite the newspapers "desperate for scandal" reports, I don't see it. She is not his "type", plus he is a new daddy and should have enough on his plate right now. Natalie seems pretty happy with her bf if you see the pictures and they look really cute together. I just don't think it's going to be anything beyond "mates"
Laila/Anton - She is single according to Wiki, and of course who knows, but unless it is a ploy for votes, I can't see it.
Craig/Flavia - I know nothing about Craig, but Flavia is still happy and with Matt right?

Maybe / Would be fun to see
Joe/Kristina - def. one to watch because of all the stories so far. Interesting to see if his gf is going to to be all heavy and watching every move (aka Alex with Rachel)
Ali/Brian - I read an article (forget where) that he thinks she is hot, but she has a bf. I don't really see it, but it would be amusing (if she was single)

On another note, it got me thinking about if there have been fling-ettes (I like that word ) every season or not?

I have watched every season, but equally have a memory like a sieve, so I tried to recall the ones I read about

SCD1 - Well of course there was Natasha/Brendon which took the spotlight, but I seem to recall reading rumours about Martin/Erin, but I was never sure with this one

SCD2 - There was nothing going on as I remember, although Carol Vorderman seemed to be giving it her all in that nude costume!

SCD3 - I remember there being reports about James & Camilla hooking up, but equally about this being denied, so again, I was never sure about this one.

SCD4 - James & Georgina? (joke!), but nothing going on here either as I remember

SCD5 - Matt & Flavia

SCD6 - All quiet in this one as well eh?


So actually on balance, there hasn't really been that many pairings. Granted there has been a fair bit of flirting on screen, but how much of that was vote-gaining I would dread to think

I think Nat and Vincent are the prime targets. They'll try with Kristina and Joe and possibly that bloke from Hollyoakes.

Brendan committed (another) cardinal sin towards the producers last year by going and getting engaged and announcing in during SCD - how can you have a showmance when your prime candidate does such a thing! I know he was engaged to Camilla and look what happened there but so far he's been well behaved lol

The difference between me and the red tops is that I know Joe and/or Kristina couldn't give a rat's ass whether I mention that there might be a possibility of anything happening, whereas the red tops will have rushed out and bought their hats already

I love how the papers will try anything I remember back in series four when the Mirror (I think) had Brendan and Claire King on the front page having a 'romantic meal' - the fact he was wearing a microphone on the picture and that this meal went out on ITT later that week totally pointless.

Mind you Jhonny Walker was speculating the other morning on Radio 2 and came down on the idea of Matt and Martina

Unfortunately newspapers don't understand that it's natural to build up quite a tactile relationship when you are dancing in a partnership with someone.

The Sun is always rubbish and it is infamous for it. I recalled reading something rather glowing after series 3 of SCD in DM. But how time's changed! They've decided resort to use cheap shots to sell their papers.

Perhaps she could be the woman to change his mind.

I think the newspapers understand fully that people can have a friendly hug,but in this case they know exactly what these two are trying to do, and are more than happy to oblidge. Kristina and Joe.....posing perfectly and holding hands all the while Kristina checking the paps were catching it on camera.......we all like to blame the press but fact is both as bad as each other.

Kristina isn't looking into the camera at all, only looking in the vague direction once. You can continue to be cynical, but personally I think the 'set up' theory is as ridiculous as the idea they are genuinely have a romantic affair.

There's a reason why the media and particularly the Daily Mail has it's reputation. Certain celebrities exploit it and deserve what they get, but it tends to be the ones who don't actually have a job or any purpose for being in the newspapers in the first place. I don't see Kristina and Joe wanting to get involved in the whole circuis, especially as Kristina has already been stung by rubbish written in the tabloids. Would they really want all of the hassle - at this early stage?

They really tried to link Brendan and Claire King didn't they? They also I think were expected him and Kelly to run off together and there were some rumours about Rod being jealous of Ian. When Ramps split up with his mrs and conveniently Maviacent hit the papers there was an article about all the splits supposedly caused by Strictly including Claire King's split from her bf at the time and Claire Sweeney bf jealously of her partner despite the fact he was married with a baby on the way (if he was that insecure then his relationship with an actress who occassionally by the nature of the job have to pretend to be in a relationship with someone else occasionally meant that relationship was probably not a long-runner).

It's also funny how Claire King said that her and Brendan were getting fed up with each other towards the end of their Strictly run on the preview program for series five about Brendan's knack of not getting on with his partners which in a sense meant the rumours about them being involved were even more wrong and must have grated on both of them even more. King at the time I think responded to the rumours in a mag article saying 'you must be joking mate' or words to that effect.
