All of the 2G networks will have low-key 3G switch-on's. Why would they want to create a stampede of customers demanding something that most know nothing about. T-Mobile have agreed terms with SonyEricssson for their first handset on 3G which will be the Z-1010 and this will doubless be sold alongside T-Mobile's existing range of 2/2.5G products. I suspect it will be promoted to users who have data needs or who have been early users of the T-Zones multimedia service as an upgarde. Outwith that it will be sold to those who have an interest or who might be tempted to switch network for technology's sake. Doubful that T-Mobile or any of the other 2G services will do much singing and dancing about 3G until they have sufficient handsets and services in place that appeal to the mass market and that wont affect their existing levels of revenue.

3G may do better now it has a decent handset. It's well known the the SE Z1010 is going to blow the current 3G handsets out of the water. The current 3G phones are big and ugly.

T-Mobile are doing exactly the same as Vodafone in that its only data users that will be able to use 3G at the moment. In other words you will need a laptop and data card.

3G Newsroom - T-Mobile gears up for 3G launch.

I guess T-Mobile arent too impressed with the current handstes either!

As for the SE Z1010 this was first available as a pre production model a year ago SE still dont have a definite date for its release yet but 1st half of 2004 seems to be on the cards.

It will be out in the next couple of months. Better to delay and release something good than release something Nokia, oops I meant Bad

And I'm nearly 7 months in to my 3g contract, I hope they offer me a nice cheap upgrade at the end of this to a new smaller, working (that would be nice) phone.
