Ok here goes, be kind it's my first time!

Sounds like thief and mixed-up exotic dancer

Not the easy one I was hoping for

Well, thief could have been robbing sod (Robin Sod)
but cant get "erling" to fit ha. Keith sounds like thief

Hmm I'll sleep on it, can't think straight after Fed's loss and then hope TC or Ig jump in

Nick I suppose is the other 'thief' possible synonym if it's not Rob...

Thought the dancer could be 'belly' which gets mixed up to ------y Bell?

Fred was close (with his first guess) for the first part, and I've messed up on the second - in true Countdown style, I used one of the letters twice, which I think would make it impossible to work out, so I'll tell you you need to add an 'r' to get the exotic dancer sound-alike synonym - and it's probably not so exotic as a belly dancer, maybe more erotic...

Hope I haven't totally messed up and that it is gettable, I've never done cryptic clues before

Oh and not a tennis player Fred!

Maybe if Nicky Bell is a real person I ought to pretend that's who I meant...

Robber = Robert if Robin was close maybe then?

Is 'pole' a keyword for the dancer perhaps?

Correct, except you'll need the 't' for the second word!

Pole dancing is too modern - think more old-fashioned, working-mens' clubbish perhaps

Sorry I didn't read Freds response and was thinking along the same lines.

Robert Pires

Thief - robber (sounds like)
Exotic dancer - stripper, mixed up is Pires (with the remaining R & T)

Had to post that answer from my phone, can't tell you how long it took me to type out

Endless bore is starting block, point to hollow crack then go to back of queue, right.

I think it might be Boris Becker, but not sure about all of the clues!

'Endless bore' = Bor, then 'is' to make Boris.
'Starting block' might be the 'B' in Becker?
Not sure about 'point to', it must be the 'e' but I dont know why?
'hollow crack' - 'ck'
'End of queue' = 'e', then the 'r' from 'right'?
lfcred

Wow,impressive Elca ...you are correct

Endless bore - Bor
is - is
Starting block - B
point - e (as in north, west, south, east points)
hollow crack - ck
back of queue - e
right - r

Boris Becker

Thanks Fred!

lfcred

Correct - I did think it was a little on the easy side, but didn't want to risk cocking it up again!
