TC

I can't trace any PL player called Thomas S***. Is he an U21 squad member? Thomas Song ? related to Rigabert and that other one.

Remember, the anagram only revealed 'Thoma'

So a 5 letter synonym beginning with S completes the clue

Hint: the surname also belongs to the more famous former international Paul

I realised just after I posted that it didn't have to have an S, I thought I put an edit to it

Edit:

Thomas Ince

Being a bit thick here, need an extra clue! Thought it might be somebody Singh, but not sure. Must be anagrammatical....

Big Tennis star, retired. ( 7,6) The latter part of the clue is an anagram, and for Amis think author.

I' struggling here. The only (6,8) player that comes to mind is Vivian Richards, but I can't see how that fits.

Considerably well is the most of a word meaning well ? Like fit or spring? Headmaster is a famous headmaster like Arnold , or does it just mean M . Plot is ploy , plan or a garden plot? More clues required I'm afraid.

Considerably requires a three letter synonym

Well is a two letter synonym

Headmaster can be M but it can also be another letter (according to my dictionary anyway)

Then the surname is a profession that is also a synonym of 'plot'

Hope that helps

In a shelter, goes to a point, and picks up golf club.
Terrence Chant

Shelter could be Den or Hut, unless in a shelter means dry, safe, warm etc

Or it could mean take some letters from in a shelter like 'elt' for example

Pick up.... Lift, get, find, raise etc

Golf club.....wood most likely, iron, driver etc

Or it could be the name of a golf club perhaps

A more unusual word for a shelter. Think of point , ignore picks up , that is just a link and you have stated the golf club.
