Can't get anywhere with this. Maggots? Larvae? bugs? My dictionary says it can mean whim, so a Dutch player called Wim or something?

Further hints: darts player (6,5)
Ignazio
18-10-2010
Not Steve Grubb then?
Terrence Chant
18-10-2010
Ooh, good call, but not him Ig. Maggots could be worms just as easily
david1955

Sadly my knowledge of darts players is very limited. I might google a few to see if there is a player called worms though!

Son is usually just S but can be lad or boy I suppose

Son is just the last letter, S as you say.

Bread or meat also would work as well as maggots or worms

Took is not a synonym like stole etc....it does give you the whole first name though.

He plays in the PDC, not the BDO.

Barrie Bates

Maggots being bait, and Barrie Took.

Good one , though I had not heard of him.

Aye, it's always that bit harder if it's someone you've not heard of. We used to have a bloke on here who often did NFL players.....I was kinda glad when he left tbh

Honour cook
Terrence Chant
20-10-2010
Hmm, cook could be one of those celebrity chefs like Ramsay, Oliver etc. It can also be an anagram indicator but I can't see an anagram of 'honour' working.

As for 'honour'.....Faith, Laurel.....could be BA too.....
Terrence Chant

Cook could also produce Baker, Fry or even Curry as a surname too....

You are getting there with BA, but a different honour. And a way to cook.

Pre WWI sportsman.

Edit . You have the name above, first names are initials.

C.B Fry? (Must admit I was unaware of the military honour).

Said to fade jumper with top noxious dye mix, having taken the lid off
david1955
20-10-2010
Wayne Rooney

Fade sounds like Wayne , jumper is ( Kanga) Roo and anagram ney.- top noxious and dye minus D.
Terrence Chant
20-10-2010
Yep, dye with the lid off meant take off the first letter 'd' leaving 'ye' + n the top letter of noxious, as you identified. Well solved

Tailless kangaroo in front of car. Hospital drama.
Terrence Chant
21-10-2010
Joe Mercer?

Tailless kangaroo = Joe(y)

Car = merc

Hospital drama = ER
david1955
21-10-2010
Yes. I thought I'd continue the kangaroo theme.
