Ryan Moore

( anagram of any with R and more)
Terrence Chant
28-10-2011
Yep!

Right = R

mushy is the anagram indicator, 'any' the fodder = yan

Second helping = more, with 'sound' as the homophone indicator = Moore

Urry made a Tiger? (Baseball)
david1955
30-10-2011
Urry could be a word for hurry minus the first letter. Dash or dart, therefore the name beginning with Ash or Art. No idea about the tiger bit unless made is an anagram indicator.

No anagrams, and Urry has a capital U even if it wasn't at the start of the sentence.

John Urry is a sociologist, Tiger could be Woods and there is a baseball player called John Woods...but I doubt that's right as it doesn't account for the 'made' bit...

Wrong Urry. There's another who did something quite significant. Tiger isn't related to the player's name.

First name could be Lewis instead, Lewis Urry invented the alkali battery....

Yes , I found him as well, but there are only a couple of baseball players called Lew that I could trace and none of them seems to fit. I'm afraid my knowledge of the inventors of batteries and baseball players are very limited. Lou Ghering (?) I've heard of but apart from Jo di Maggio and Jackie Robinson that's about it'

Correct Urry but the Lewis isn't what I'm after. TC, you almost said it. (2,6)

(Scottish football)

The golf clue could be Rough, Alan Rough , but I don't see that fitting withe rest. Adam could be Charlie or Ant I suppose?
Terrence Chant

Some good thinking but no breakthrough I'm afraid. The Adam refers to a player in the sport mentioned in the clue. Not the most well known of footballers so here's the letters: (5,7)
