Must admit I missed this clue...

Is it Martin Jol?

Martini drink shortened to Martin

And similarly Jolt for sharp shock, shortened to Jol

Neat wordplay with the 'short sharp shock'

Hmm, not very good on rugby only know the really famous players so some thoughts:

'at sea' is a typical anagram indicator, so 'finish in the spring' could be the fodder

or it might not be that straightforward.....

Finish in could be the last letter of 'in' = n, then re-scramble N+t h e s p r i n g, can't se it though

Or 'in' could be an instruction, so that (perhaps) a synonym of 'finish' eg: 'end' goes in the middle

Spring could be a synonym too such as water, or even a month like May

In your last 2 lines you have some very good thoughts.

Little Derek goes after a supporter and has a laugh and makes a loud noise

Supporter = Bra

Little Derek = D

Laugh = Ha

Loud Nouse = Din

Spells Brad Haddin, albeit with a 'd' missing?

Some form of anagram with TC leaving attic. Ian someone ? The only one I can trace is Ian Preece., or someone called Carter.
Terrence Chant

You've solved 66.6% of it above David! There is an anagram partly involved, but it's tough as its an anagram of a synonym, which I don't usually do tbh.

Ali Carter. I'll try to work out why !
Terrence Chant

Ok! I'll explain all a bit later if you can't fathom it out....right answer in any event
Terrence Chant

The solution was:

Her attic - Alicia(s) (Alicias Attic, pop duo) - 'I leave' means remove an 'i', leaving Ali Ca
I almost = Terry, almost = Terr.
Move is the anagram indicator = terr = rter

Err.. right! I'd never heard of Alicias Attic ,. never mind the rest!

I'll think of a new clue
