Drink, we hear, in time, then take adulation

Must admit I know very few American footballers.....only OJ Simpson and The Fridge .....but I think I've worked it out:

Drink we hear....tea = T

In time....the 't' goes into 'time' = Tim Te

take adulation = (take a) bow

Tim Tebow?

Wonderful singer for the most part .

( Olympic Sport)
Terrence Chant

I was thinking it might be a singer who sang a song called 'Wonderful', then 'for the most part' use most but not all the letters...e.g Annie Lennox becomes Ann Lenno, Adam Ant = Ada Ant or something

Or wonderful could require a synonym, followed by a singer, then use most the letters of that.

Fear it may be an obscure one judging by 'Olympic sport'...
