I thought our last match against Australia was a bit of a backward step in terms of being bullied out of the match up front , which hasn't happened much under Gatland.
England are a bit of an unknown quantity after getting the majority of injured players back who missed the Autumn series. It's fascinating as ever.”

I don't think I have been this excited about a game in a long while. I think England will do well in the scrum, wales the lineout.

So the set peice will be 50/50 I think a lot rests on the back row. William v Moody is a big battle and Easter who is always being talked up but I really don't quite see it. Has to cope with Ryan Jones who is coming back to some good form. At 6 Powel v Haskell is a very interesting battle Haskell has a lot more to his game than Powel but Powel is good at what he does, aggressive hard running.

If Moody can subdue Williams then I think this will swing the game Englands way.

England have to stop the Roberts, Hook combination expect a backrower on Roberts at Welsh set piece ball.

People have suggested the Tait, Flood is lightwieght but they both make their tackles so we will see. I would rather have the Welsh midfield without doubt. Back 3 I think again Byrne is the class in the Welsh setup but I don't think he is as enfluntal as he has been in the past but he is very secure.

Heart says England by 15 points. Head says England by 2 points. Very tough game.

I know if had happend to my team I would have been very upset. The Ospreys were the better team on the day but that doesn't mean they were entitled to the victory.”

Of course you are absolutely right, its just that Leicester Tigers are (in)famous for winning dirty and when Peter Wheeler makes a claim of cheating, it leaves a bitter taste. He also went on to embelish the situation in that the tigers were camped out five metres from the Ospreys try line and the presence of the 16th man prevented a clear try, things like that.

In other points, how do you feel about Ricky Flutey (really made a mark as a Lion imho) being out?

Looking forward to tomorrow's match at Twickenham

COME ON WALES!!!!!

Remembering 2 years ago when England absolutely capitulated in the 2nd half and Brian Moore was going absolutely ballistic on commentary

Alarmingly enough, Eddie Butler nearly admitted a weird pro English bias by asking rhetorically "England what are you doing". The resulting "And Wales what have you done" seemed like a tacked on after thought.

Apologies to correct you, but I'm fairly sure it was

"Oh..England!! What have you done? And Wales! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

I remeber that too, I sent messages to all my welsh rugby Buddys at half time telling them how it looked like England were gonna smash them! Came back to haunt me. Never seen I side compleatly change at half time like that. Other than new Zealand when they play France in serious competition!

Italy are worse now than they were ten years ago. Awful.

We know they're a limited side again and it'll always be hard to break down the nations that have more of a Rugby history on a regular basis. Way back when France joined and made it the old five nations , they took the best part of two decades to win a title. Even more difficult for Italy now in a professional era.

if italy take any longer at rucks then they may lull ireland to a stupor

is it me or is it very quiet there so far

Yes, time to go back to the 5 nations. What is the point of a ruck where it takes 30secs to get the ball out, which is then passed to a static forward, lined up by 2 or 3 defenders? The only way the ball crossed the gain line was when it was kicked.

Come on, be fair, England may have improved since the Autumn...

Great Answer
Ireland certainly don't look like their bok beating best from the Autumn. The tournament is wide open this year.

it's only 29-11 they're losing after the 70th minute.

10 years ago they would have been losing away from home by 40 or 50 points evey time. So Italy were worse 10 years ago than now.

If Ireland were awake it would be a 50 point drubbing. It should be a 50 point drubbing.

Italy were making real progress until 2 or 3 years ago. Now they're just going backwards.

Sure, but that's mainly down to fitness levels. They noticeably tired in the last quarter and leaked tries, whereas now they can defend for much longer.

Right, almost there then

Wasn't it in this fixture last year in Cardiff when Wales had just beaten England and Inverdale started talking about an England revival and Jonathan Davies couldn't stop laughing

"Wales have just won and you are talking about an English revival?"

Austin Healy snapping back in response: "Did you see us laughing at you when you were going through your bad spell"

As per usual the BBC's coverage is heavily weighted towards England..... no mention of Wales yet.

I've just checked and yes, I am watching BBC 1 Wales ...... for a second I thought I had tuned into an English channel!! Ahhhhh Jonathan Davies, at last a Welsh voice in the wilderness of Twickers.

IIRC all they could bleet on about after that match was how England could come back ....... never a mention of how Wales had played well and where they would go from this euphoric win.

BBC Rugby ..... same old, same old.

Prince William, Vice Royal Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union ...... no doubt supporting England today.
