Anyone here follow any teams in the National Conference League? I wonder if they get increased attendances when the regular SL season has ended. Some great names in there. Hull Dockers always conjours up an image shall we say
Hey don't knock the Hull sides

Amatuer rugby league is very strong in these parts. Lots of sides in the conference or league 1. Dockers, West Hull, East Hull, Skirlaugh and so on.

Mikali Aizue has signed for Halifax for next year. He was a bit of a superstar in the World Cup last year, so it looks like a good signing for Fax.

Macca has been great for us over the past few seasons. He runs straight and hard. Great prop forward. Tough, strong and powerful and an enourmously likeable guy too

Yeah I got some rellies living near Skidby, I have an annual pilgrimage to round your parts just before Christmas. It's good that there's so many sides that seem to be thriving. One of my inlaws played for one of the sides (poss East Hull) yonks ago, I'll have to ask him

Some of the NCL games get far more than most teams in Championships leagues.

pretty good matches for a couple of quid.

Time Rugby

reading between the lines I don't think any Magners league matches can be shown this season, due to Setanta contract (despite them collapsing in UK)
Magners League matches are shown, either in full or highlights on S4C (free-to-air on satellite so don't need a Sky subscription).

Details of when can be found on http://www.livesportontv.com/rugby-union/

No chance unless you win it in 2011 and I doubt that.
We,re in the wrong place , if we relocate to Lebanon or Russia we have a chance

I go to Leigh Miners and Leigh East on alternate weeks , used to play for Miners in my youth , a decent start by both .Skirlaugh look good this season beat the miners 24-16at the weekend

Good signing for Halifax is Aizue , will do a good job for them

A piece of self-promotion totally shameless, but I've started my own rugby blog and only a date tonight is preventing me beginning it with more than a simple welcome message. Anyway I'll be updating it hopefully several times a day so please bookmark it and let me know the kind of things you'd like out of a rugby fans' blog. Cheers.

True. I hope this is the real start of them making a proper push for Super League. I miss matches at Fax. It was just about my favourite away trip.

Y Clwb Rygbi will show a live Magners League match and usually a live Welsh Premiership match too, on a weekend.
Certainly through Sky, you can choose English commentary as well.

Setanta did show Magners League matches, but they were generally between two Irish sides and had some of the most biased punditry you'd ever hear.

What is a 'chicken wing' tackle?
I've not heard of one of those.

Its a rugby league thing isn't it where they bend the ball carriers, carrying arm to stop them playing the ball??

I read abotu it somewhere I think the Aussies have banned it?? I don't really know much just I read an article about it creeping in to the UK.

still no joy on Lions dvd

I've given up on Play and switched to Amazon, as they at least had some stock. Though it's not been dispatched yet

I'm beginning to think Lace are a bit two-bob, despite not liking them I'm wishing Sky had produced the tour dvd

at least they would have had stock ready by release date

That's why James Graham, the St Helens prop had his shoulder injured. That's where I saw the term.
I think that explains it.

My games for this weekend

Ospreys v Ulster
Nottingham v London Welsh
Warrington v Harlequins RL.

Much as I'd love wins for all three teams (Ospreys, LW and Quins RL), I reckon only the Ospreys will be winners.

Blimey!

Taylor was a great player, but he's obviously not a great drinker!

South Sydney coach Jason Taylor is facing the axe after being involved in a punch-up with one of his players.

Taylor was reportedly knocked out by New Zealand international forward David Fa'alogo during an eight-hour drinking session earlier this week to mark the end of the season.

He was today served with formal notification of breaches of his contract with the club and given until Tuesday to respond.

Fa'alogo, who is due to join Huddersfield from next season on a three-year contract, has also been served with a breach notice requiring him to appear before the Rabbitohs board on Friday week to defend himself.

Fa'alogo's NRL contract does not expire until October 31.

Phil Bennet reckons by 40 odd points which be very, very nice. On the other hand.he also said we should look no further than Sean Holley for our Director of Coaching......whatever you say mate, whatever you say.

I don't care about the other games ( care who wins that is) as long as Nottingham stuff the Welsh. Probably be a close game though.

Leigh East future is in serious doubt at the leigh sports village after a fall out with Wigan council, they currently pay £850 a week in rent to play , the council want them to pay 60,000 per Year which is £1150 a week Leigh east have 22 teams that cater for all age groups but cannot afford the rent , the council promised them lots of things when they moved there but have gone back on their word , Leigh MP Andy Burnham is holding a meeting with both parties to try and sort out a compromise
