Maidstone Rugby Club and it's players got off pretty lightly as far as I am concerned.

Eye gouging is something that every rugby person should be anxious to get out of the game. The players and Club appeared to close rank to protect the guilty player. If Jeff Blackett had been stronger and banned all the players, who basically withheld information, for a season then it might have been better, and would have made the point to all players/clubs that protecting a "mate" because he is a thug will not be tolerated.

However I wonder what would have happened if it had been a higher profile Nat Div1 or Premiership club involved?

We had a situation where a memebr of our club was gouged and had the tear ducts torn out of both his eyes which required 13 stitches. Its was a horrific and clearly intentional incident. We cited the club and it went to a hearing and during the hearing: Chaired by a former Chairman Of the RFU he got up and said "we have just won the world cup. This sort of thing will do nothing for our image" and threw the case out.

The problem is people know how bad the penalty is for gouging not only to players but also to clubs and rugby itself so they do close ranks.

Warren Gatland continues to make the Welsh look stupid with comments like this.

How did you do in the Autumn Gatland??

oh well there was the win agains Fiji........oh hang on not there wasnt'.

Utter tool, and I raelly hope England smash them. For one thing on the back of that, England will be fired up thanks for the team talk.

Gatland does come out with some tripe.

Stupid comments about Hartley and how England will play.

Lawes, Croft and Moody are big losses but I still reckon, as usual, they'll play better rugby than they are given credit for.

Haskel, Worsley, Shaw and Palmer but there is cover. Wales without Adam Jones are even weaker.

Um, no he doesn't. He makes himself look stupid. We, the Wesh fans, are not that easily fooled by Y Gat and his big gob or or do we hang on his every word. Not us, not ever.

Mind you, compared to Cueto, Cementhead is a genius. Apaprantly being a Friday, all Welsh rugby fans will have had a chance to booze all day so England should expect a hostile welcome. You see, the Welsh don't actually work, we are all a bunch of workshy alcoholics.

Mind games that is all from Gatland and Cueto. Neither are succeeding in trying to make the other look stupid, just themselves.

As Martin Johnson suggested (reported in The Times today) it might just be that Gatland is feeling the pressure.

A bad 6N and he and Edwards will be gone - which will be bad for Welsh rugby. They will struggle to find as good, let alone better - and if they did they would still feast on the new person's carcass after a couple of defeats.

I did say to a Welsh friend after their first season that this would happen - and he agreed.

Absolutely correct Frood. However, I would probably be satisfied to see Gats and Edwards stay, but Howley slinging his hook.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion whe the comment was:
Quote:
““All the boys love playing at the Millennium Stadium because the atmosphere is incredible. It’s just so noisy after everyone’s had a few beers at 3 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon, so it’s going to be unbelievable by 8 o’clock on a Friday night.””

Springbok duo cleared of drug charges

so the responsibility rule doesn't apply in rugby then

they tested positive, they should be banned

How does

They’ll be louder and more aggressive. It’ll be exciting."”

Still doesnt come close to saying the welsh are all jobless drunks though does it? And is he wrong about the atmosphere? Or are the Welsh going to clap the English in a lovely friendly way.

I suppose you need to find some deflection somewhere after your coaches crass and ludicrus statements this week.

May the best team win.

Come on Sensoria mate, Cueto was on a windup. Most welsh people I know actually work on Fridays and are not, like Cueto said, able to go on the piss in the morning. I don't mind at all. I like this mind game stuff but I think Gatland goes too far, but he doesn't speak "for the Welsh"

Likewise, may the best team win. Looking like Lloegr at the moment.

Have to agree, England will just scrape it on Friday

For me, Gatland is on very thin ice now and if we finish 4th or 5th in the Six Nations, he is a goner

We really have to be firing on Friday if we are going to beat England as they are just chomping at the bit to beat us on our home turf

My predictions for Friday and Saturday

Wales v England - ENGLAND (as much as it pains me to say it given the form we are currently in)

Italy v Ireland - IRELAND

France v Scotland - FRANCE

Oh well looks like I've failed on tickets for the match Friday makes you sick looking on ebay seeing all those tickets for sale It's a pity Mr Gatland didn't start his vow of silence a few days earlier.

Rubbish time to be a Wasps fan, this week's humiliation is the pointless moneygrabbing trip to Abu Dhabi

Fantastic way to grow support for the team Mr Hayes, losing badly to Harlequins

As a Welshman, I can confirm I will be finishing work at 5:30pm this Friday, giving me exactly 2 hours in the boozer (once I can get to it). Were it to be played one day later, I would have from 12:00midday to kickoff time in the boozer.

Wales will win it by 3 points.

If Cueto's comments wound anyone up, then quite frankly I worry for them.

England are going to miss croft and moody, however the tight five remains reasonably strong, The backs will have a lot of confidence from the autumn and will be desparate to get a win in Cardiff.

Wales without Jenkins and Jones are going to be a target at the set peice, so I expect the scrums to be collapsed a lot, in the backs I think it's pretty even.

A win for England by 15

We'll have Edwards back please.

If the old farts at Twickenham had a working brain between them he'd never have been involved in Wales - and personally I think he's better than Gatland anyway.

Let him coach at Wasps and do the England defence, just not be involved in actually selecting the national team.

I think he'll be a good head honcho before long.

Seems that a lot of the English Clubs aren't that bothered with this tournament looking at some of the teams they put out.

That Wasps No8 looked like a unit though
