I'd like to see a return to that.
I remember the day London Welsh hosted Northampton. Old Deer Park was packed, rammed, there must've been over 4000 there. Also, London Welsh put up a good display before being beaten.
Overheard in the bar afterwards, was Tim Rodber. he was being badgered by some people who said they'd been invited to Quins and they should go. Rodber's blunt reply to them was "we're staying here, this is a REAL rugby club".
Also, we played London Irish in the cup, when they'd done their pro move to Reading. it was another good crowd, albeit certainly not 4000. Irish stuck 60 points on us that day, but their fans told us it was great to be back at a 'proper rugby club' and not some soulless wendyball stadium.
Canterbury enjoyed their day at us in the cup. They had some handy players, who belied their then Nat 3 South status. However, we did stick 70 odd points on them, os no giant killing that day.
