I read "Engage: The Fall and Rise of Matt Hampson" last night. It is the first book I have ever read cover to cover in 24 hours. Probably the most inspiring story I have ever read it bought me to tears on pretty much every page in the book.

If you read one rugby book read it it will make you greatful for life.

Really annoyed that Martyn Williams isn't going. Gatland selected him for his 99th cap last Saturday and he played well again. We could've done with his experience against the South Sea Islanders in our group.

I'm gutted for him but I had a feeling Gatland would leave him at home.

I have to say I think England are going to surprise me if they do anything with that squad.

I was saying at the weekend watching South Africa beat an all be it weaker AB team that the physicality they played with we cant match, we have big lumps but the intensity that south africa played with was immence. Few teams will live with it. It is the same with the All Blacks.

The team we have picked does not have anything creative about it.

Very worried.

He might be on an "unofficial" standby list.

Only one Osprey in the backs. That means if god forbid Wales do badly, the Scarlets fans down my way better start eating humble pie for all the crap I have got the last couple of years about Wales failing almost always because of the Ospreys contingent.

Well Hook, Byrne and Phillips haven't started playing for their new clubs yet. So I guess, until they come back from NZ they could be counted as semi-Ospreys or ex-Ospreys; although "THIS IS AN EX-OSPREY" sounds like it belongs in a Monty Python sketch.

Amazing how they continue to ignore Saracens hooker Schalk Brits.

Henson wont go, Delve might be called up as a back up if he stays with the Rebels as he will already be there. Rees would be a sure thing unless he falls apart. I would be surprised to see Peel there unless he gets picked by his country.

Oz win the Tri Nations!!

Might be those old doubts creeping into kiwi minds ahead ahead of the biggest pressure they'll have ever had going in to a world cup

Australia look like they could be peakiing at the right time

I suppose All Blacks would rather lose this and improve for RWC than the other way around. Maybe this could refocus their minds

so the warm up matches are over and England sign off with a hard fought win

Unlucky for David Wallace to get injured so close to RWC

Premiership starts this week

I'm off to the LDH at Twickers, normally a good day out (hopefully no silly Mexican waves this year)

Good start of a new era for the Ospreys this evening , with a 27-3 home win over Leinster in the Celtic League. With Henson , Hook , Phillips and Byrne gone in the backs and Marty Holah from the forwards departed , they are pursuing a new policy of bringing youth through rather than too many high earners. Also without their wc contingent , as were Leinster , the mix of youth and few experienced heads in Duncan Jones , Mefin Davies and Ian Evans showed up well and with promise for the season ahead.

back from Twickers, happy with the win if not the quality of the game

well done Exeter on upsetting Leicester, interesting that both Premiership finalists lost today

I guess the league won't properly settle until all big names return from RWC

Currently watching Wasps v Leicester on ESPN, Wade is looking like a future star

Was at the Wasps/Tigers match. The sparse crowd, possibly reflecting the Wasps ticket price hike, their terrible displays last season and the surfeit of Rugby on the TV at present, were treated to an epic display by both teams.

Wade has unbelievable speed. With him and Varndell on the wings every other team having to face Wasps will be praying for the winter weather to come.

The Wasps scrum improved out of all proportions from the previous match, and I can't remember a Wasps lineout that has performed as well since the game went professional.

On the Tigers side their youngsters, especially Ford, look promising.

Saw a bit of the rugby on the TV tonight...what was the situation between the Sale coach and Northampton's bench.

Noticed a bit of pushing and "shhh" signals which seemed rather out of place!
