Leicester lose again, this World Cup period has really not been good to them

The RWC might be over but the rugby continues

tough game for Wasps tonight against Worcester, while Sale have the visit of Leicester

In other news the enigma that is Gavin Henson might get a game for Cardiff Blues, assuming he doesn't have a pressing tv commitment

He's out for another month apparently.

this might kick start the thread again

Sarries and Wigan create code tie-up

revealed after this signing

Tomkins to Saracens

also the refereeing at yesterday's game between us and Saints was very ..... questionable to say the least

I see partnership only benefitting Saracans. They know Wigan's production line is top quality so if they can get 1st in line then its a win win for them. Not happy with Wigan being involved in a tie-up with Rugby Union.

I see Mike Tindall has been fined along with a few other members of the England world cup squad but he has also got the "sack"

Notice he is 33 anyway..would that have happened had he been 23 and the next up and coming star?

No probably not. They have sacrificed him a bit, but bloody hell he should have known better. Apparently, they all signed a code of conduct contract, and he broke that.
He's won a RWC medal, he really should have known better.

I think I'm the minority on this one, but I still fail to see what Tindall (and the others out drinking did wrong).

None of the England players caused a scene at the bar, none of them smashed up the place, none of them offended/fought with anyone at the bar and they weren't the only national rugby team to have visited the venue that week. The bar's website/Facebook page also has photos of the Romanian team there a few days before/after England (can't remember which).

Also it's a myth to say that none of the of major nations were out drinking during the tournament, Warren Gatland said during a press conference before Wales vs France. Tindall was a bit niave to be drapsing over a former girlfriend/university mate, but I don't see how that in itself is such a terrible breech of discipline.

As I understand it the main issue is that he went onto another bar (without his teammates) and didn't admit this to RFU. This led to the press being misinformed and the previous 'bad' story continued to rumble on.

IMO I still don't think that was worth the OTT media frenzy that followed the England team.

I heard an interview with Lewis Moody who said he felt that maybe he should have got them to leave the bar when he did, as he saw the evening 'escalating'. But he thought, they're grown ups, and it was all agreed that they wouldn't do anything to cause embarrassment. So I guess it depends on what they'd agreed in the code of conduct, but that would have given them grounds.
What he did wasn't massively big, but made him look a bit stupid.

True but he was the only one banned as such whilst younger players with a more long term future got fined only.

Ofcourse as an experienced player he should have known better and unlike football rugby doesn't want a reputation of being a bad boys sport.

I'm with you on this, but is there not more to the Mike Tindall story. There surely must be. The media went crazy over what appeared to be very trivial matters. I would like to know what really went on, but I cannot understand why we are not being told

I think the truth is that the media would love there to be more to it - the tabloids aren't really that interested in the rugby thay were just muckraking. Let's be honest if Tindall was married to a supermarket checkout girl this 'story' would have barely got a mention.

Very sad . I must admit I had never heard of him though.

Some very poor results for English clubs in the HC. At least Nottingham scraped a win in the Anglo Irish over Pontypridd!

these Hybrid rules benefit Union sides much more then League. I Hope Wigan don't play this fixture.

The Tinds "story" was only ever an exercise in muckraking by the tabloids.

But then when have the tabloids every let the truth get in te way of a good story.

And I am sure they will still be comfortably under the Salary Cap, as they say they are at the moment... Quite a remarkable achievement given the number of full internationals they have in their squad......

Yes, no surprise.
He was a great player, but a gamble to think he could coach to the same level.
Who next though? Overseas?

Hope Rob Andrew follows suit. Whoever takes over should have their own coaching team - out of the current team, only Graham Rowntree would be likely to be kept on. Contenders for the job would include Jim Mallender & Nick Mallett.

ditto

though I'm 50/50 on Rob Andrew. I do feel he wants to exact proper change at RFU, but is hamstrung by the system/old f@rts

Squeaky should go too.

He's only interested in one thing, himself, and as he was the one who sacked Brian Ashton and appointed MJ he is an integral part of the debacle of the last 3 years or so..

He wanted to keep Ashton, but the powers above didn't

he didn't or couldn't fight his case hard enough
