Humax Survey

I just had a consumer survey via e-mail from Humax asking me all about my viewing equipment and habits.

They say that the survey is in two stages and if I get through to stage two I will get a free Humax HDR. I would think that there would be very little likelyhood of reaching stage two, however, they will let me know in three months time.

I apparently received the survey because I had sent them an e-mail in the past - Very strange as I have sent several e-mails, but NEVER had the courtesy of a reply.

Has anybody else had this survey?

I have sent them several emails but I do not expect to get invited to this particular party.

Yes, I too have had the survey invite. This is my first email from them since I contacted them earlier in the year.

Yes, I too have had the survey invite.
Can hardly wait to get my Foxsat HDR.
I expect it to be version .05 !

They were not interested in my European address, so gave my next English one.

Reminds me that UK TV licence £146 versus 116 Euros, so its not just the fuel thats expensive.
And £190 for car tax, outrageous for a little Disco !

Can't remember why I'm returning.

It's a pity it's not a questionnaire on what we think of their customer support!

Damn right! No reply to e-mails and not invited to get a shot at a second HDR. Ho Hum

Also got the survey last night. I was on the list for receiving news about the HDR before it was released so can only assume that was why I was sent it?
As far as the round 2 I thought it said if you were selected that you would get a free gift and a chance to get an HDR - so there could be a very small number of HDRs to give away but the number of round 2 people could be much higher.

Me too!

But as I told them that I don't have any Humax equipment (yet!), I guess I won't be invited back for the next round.

Does anybody have an idea as to why they would need a second round?

This is the actual wording on the e-mail. It says:

"Upon successfully completing the survey we will be selecting candidates for a second stage who will receive a gift from Humax of a Foxsat-HDR upon completion"

So maybe those without one will have a better chance of getting one. SNAITHG keep your fingers crossed

You are beta testing for Freesat not Humax.

I too am selected as an iplaer beta tester, but as the poster above pointed out that test is through freesat not humax.

I also had the email about the survey and completed it, so we'll wait and see if theres a round two reply.

Hi gomezz (anyone else who has not had a reply to emails),

Can you please PM me your email address, the address the email was sent to and when.
I am not aware of anyone in Support deleting emails, and we do on occasions have emails rejected when we try to reply to customers.

Thanks

The criteria for selection of the second round must be kept discrete because otherwise it would bias the survey. We need a range of people who meet a certain set of demographic and logistic criteria.

It isn't possible to do the second stage out of the UK for both legal ambiguities and logistic reasons (plus demographically people outside of the UK aren't representative of the typical UK household).

How can you say that?: I live in Paris but I still behave like a typical Brit for the most part
* wife is English
* children are English
* very nice English pub up the road
* Freesat is great & we basically only watch TV via the Humax.
The only difference is we get to have more barbecues than you due to the better weather.

Nick123,

Perhaps I am wrong, but experience says that the environment will always influence behaviour to some degree, much like the anthropological version of the observer effect. If you really feel strongly about wanting to add your views then just mark yourself as being in the nation of the UK that you feel you most identify with. But we would like to avoid as many external influences as practical,

Bob

@ Bob_cat. Thanks for your comments on this one. It's nice to have an idea how the survey is expected to work.

It's also nice to see posts from Humax support. It gives me confidence in the company again.

Thanks for the response, BobCat. No, I think you're right to leave me out of the survey, but not for the reasons that you suggest, viz that I may have a different lifestyle because I'm overseas. The reason I shouldn't be included is that I am probably much more fanatical about Freesat than a UK resident as for the first time in 22 years living here I can get FTA UK channels in a properly packaged EPG. I've got a Humax HD box (upstairs) and your PVR (downstairs). All I can say is thanks for bringing these quality products to the market and remember that I'm sacrificing my chance of winning a PVR because I don't want to skew your results!

My copies are stored on an old computer which I have not got round to transferring over as yet. I am just the owner of an old Fox-T2 which became unusable due to the repeated loss of EPG info needing a daily reboot. I suspect this is due to memory leakage and should be easily fixable but it seems Humax cannot spare the couple of hours I reckon it would take a competent programmer. I stopped banging my head against a brick wall quite a while ago and now confine myself to giving the occasional gentle warnings to new and potential owners of Humax equipment about what they can expect in the way of ongoing support. I see 9200T owners are now complaining.

May I suggest that you would benefit from getting Gmail, all those ancient emails, if on Gmail, would be sortable, searchable & of course available.

So what do you do for laughs now? on a Saturday night?

You may actually be right, but unconvincing, because not being able to search your own Out-box folk might think your In-box or even Spam-box had disappeared into the same black-hole.
