Sudden reboot at 22:00 last night

I scheduled recording for New Tricks and The Bill (in HD) last night at 21:00-22:00. My HDR is set to start 2 mins early and finish 5 mins late.

We had been watching another recording up to around 21:30, then started to watch New Tricks (from Media button).

At exactly 22:00, the HDR decided to reboot itself. When it had completed it's restart, we went back into Media to continue watching New Tricks. I noticed that the it was flagged as "failed recording" (presumably because it had not done it's extra 5 mins).

Is this another HDR bug, or did ITV send out a spurious signal at 22:00 that triggered the reboot ?

Anyone else have this problem ?

I had a spontaneous rebout once, but as this was some time ago I can't remember the exact circumstances.

You say you were watching The Bill in HD. Could it be that when ITV switched HD back to normal SD at 2200 it caused a reboot.

Not sure, just an idea

ITV HD has problems with padding, I think it's because the hdr tries to hang on recording after the red button access is disabled. Because of loads of complaints they now seem to add 2 mins to all AR times. So for ITV HD best to leave the settings for on and off at auto.

I didn't lose any of the two progs I was recording. The reboot happened exactly when the red button flag stopped I think (though as I was watching the recording of New Tricks at the time, I can't be totally sure). It just feels to me like ITV can cause my box to reboot when they like, which is rather worrying ! I tend to agree with theShadowman.

I use the -2 and +5 settings because I found I was losing front or end bits of lots of programmes, especially ITV3.

This is the first time that I've ever had a problem with ITVHD, apart from the early days when they used to chop the HD a minute or so early.

It'll probably never happen again (famous last words), I just wondered if anyone else suffered the mystery reboot.
