Thank **** Darkness won best album. Well deserved.

They should have ended the show with Love is Only a Feeling though, it would have been perfect.

I missed it - my VCR didn't switch on - and I'm very pissed off. My mainly miserable reactions to the awards...

Best Pop
I like Busted. No real problem here.

Best international male
Justin Timberlake. Snigger. Oh well, all the nominees were dire.

Best international female
Beyonce? Definitely not. Christina or Alicia should have won.

Best international group
Very strong group of nominees. Would much rather have seen Outkast win, but the White Stripes are OK.

Best international album
Justin Timberlake - outrageous! Outkast, Christina Aguilera, The White Stripes are nominated... and they give it to silly little trousersnake? Incredible.

Best international breakthrough
50 Cent... can someone explain to me what anyone likes about him?

Best British male
Will Young deserved this award. Bedingfield is a fool.

Best British female:
Well I suppose they couldn't keep giving it to Annie Lennox every year, but Dido really isn't the best British female, or the best anything else.

Best British group
Radiohead are head and shoulders above all the others. This result was ridiculous.

Best British album:
The Darkness are deserving winners... very happy for them.

Best British dance
Goldfrapp are brilliant. Very sad and sorry they didn't win.

Best British breakthrough
All very strong nominees. Sorry that Dizzee Rascal didn't win this category.

Best British single
I actually like Spirit in the Sky best out of that lot!

Best British urban
Very pleased for Lemar.

Best British rock:
I think the Darkness deserve their 15 minutes of fame, but their posturing is becoming a bit tedious. They need to concentrate on the music. Their latest single really isn't up to much.

Outstanding contribution: Duran Duran? Someone's having a laugh, surely? Of all the highly over-rated bands that triumphed in the godforsaken 1980s, they were surely the least talented and most forgettable. If there's a similarly successful group who've had less impact on British music and enjoy less respect, I'd like to know who they are.

The head of the Brits committee is the boss of DB's record label! Or so I read on another forum.

The same record label are bringing out a "Cure - Best of" album very soon!

We've run out of people who've made an outstanding contribution, so we're left with acts that are making some sort of comeback, like Duran Duran.

Although if I could cast your minds back to 2000, I believe the Spice Girls won that particular category that year.

Oh, and then there was Status Quo in 91 and nothing at all in 86.

Where is Chas & Dave's award dammit...LOL

If that's true then I don't think you're being cynical at all, but have perfectly explained the reason.

The whole thing is about promotion. No doubt somebody has decided to put a bit of money behind Duran Duran's comeback. To be fair I don't think they are quite as bad as people are saying, but they hardly deserved this award did they? It must have been record company money.

I'd have given it to Haysi Fantaysee myself. Fantastic!

The interview with Louis Walsh going into the Brits was funny, he said "Too many Americans here this year, The Brits should be for the British!", then he quickly realized he was ruling out himself and his own creations, and added "oh, and the Irish!", D'oh! .

He has a point though, I think there was more American performers than British ones this year, which can't be right, even if my favourites were Beyonce and Outkast (I like the Peas too, but I missed the start).

To be fair though, I'd certainly rather go back to the 80s music scene than endure the current one, with "look, we're not just pretty faces, we can play guitars too, honest" Busted and The "don't we sound like Queen" Darkness.

Have we?

I'm not sure who has won the "Outstanding Contribution to Music" award previously, but Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Roxy Music and The Smiths should all have got the award before Duran Duran.

Well Beyonce definitely did it for me, and it had nothing to do with her singing talents! She is stunning and proved that she can sing and dance at the same time. I'll be recording the repeat on Friday just to watch her over and over again

I really don't know what the fuss is with beyonce, she's pretty average to me and yes she is talented but i would rather listen to whitney houston. Crazy in love has become the most annoying song of this decade so far!!!

If you worked out the ratio of good whitney songs to good beyonce songs it would be 7:2 for whitney.

OK, but then Whitney Houston's been around for quite a while.

Beyonce, her more gentle voice (and may I add her fine, curvy figure) has only recently arrived on the scene.

Im gonna agree with you on this, Whitney has been around for yonks, Beyonce was probably nothing more than a kid when Whitney was at her height. (And hasn't she developed well may i add!)

Crazy in love may have become annoying, but it can never compare to that slush of I will always love you.

But Bedingfield came to Britain when he was 3 months old, and Dido has a British passport.

Hmm, but maybe you knew that already....
