Cheryl Cole gives a 16-year-old hopeful a second chance on this week's X Factor.

The Girls Aloud star halts South Wales student Lloyd's audition after he hits some bum notes in a rendition of Jason Mraz's 'I'm Yours'.

Simon Cowell suggests that he sing acapella and the young singer attempts to make amends with a version of R Kelly's 'If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time'.

Before he performs, Lloyd tells the cameras: "I'm 16 years old and I'm a student from South Wales. I am nervous, singing in front of four judges and 2,000 people today. So I just hope it doesn't show in my performance."

Daily Star rate this lad very highly calling him a serious contender after tonight. We shall see.

WONDERBOY Lloyd Daniels told last night how he hopes to win the show - five years after nearly dying from a serious kidney problem.

The 16-year-old dazzled the judges with his rendition of R Kelly's If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time - and Cheryl Cole told him: "You've got the X Factor."

Lloyd, from Treharris, south Wales, said: "I loved it from the second I stepped on stage. It was a long way from the state I was in five years ago."

The Welsh singer spent 2½ months in hospital when he was 11 after suffering a kidney blockage. Lloyd recalled: "I had to have a couple of operations. It was terrifying and I could have died. But it made me appreciate life and pursue my dreams."

At 16, Lloyd is among the youngest on the show, and has previously only sung karaoke and in school plays.

Nerves got the better of him at the start of his audition when he missed a few notes in Jason Mraz's song I'm Yours. But he got a second chance and didn't disappoint.

Lloyd said: "The audience were screaming and stamping their feet. It was incredible."

Lloyd was very promising last night. Lots of nerves but it must be incredibly daunting at such a young age to perform in front of a huge audience for the first time let alone with the judges and tv cameras too. Shall be following his progress with interest.

I thought it was quite sweet at boot camp, seeing him and Ethan having a cuddle .

Im looking forward to seeing Lloyd at bootcamp. His audition was messed up a bit but I love his voice and I think he can do much better. Plus he is nice to look at

Aww, he wasn't on for long, but he looked gorgeous as usual. Bit weak vocally, but he has a pretty voice still.
