So true, and the creme de la creme that is Nandos on the High Street must be raking it in. I stick to the other end of Croydon - Crystal Palace, there are some really good eateries of every variety that side.

Btw the Spreadeagle pub on Katherine Street got a decent write up in London Lite last week. But, they didn't mention the couple of ex BB housemates that hang out there. One of the few places I have found that appear not to water the beer, ales and lagers.

I heart Croydon, but it can be a challenge to defend it sometimes.

Fortunately, in South Croydon there are some good places to eat too, so it isn't all bad! But you're right, Nandos always looks busy when I go past it on the bus!

I've never been into the Spreadeagle or know which housemates hang out in there! I must admit, I assumed that because it's a central Croydon pub, that it wouldn't be up to much. But I stand corrected

I had some beautiful haddock & chips from a chippy right next door to Newlyn fish market on the harbour a few years ago!

I know the one! There's a new fish and chip restaurant on the promenade now which has had good reviews:

But Penzance (and nearby) does have quite a few good restaurants, probably contrary to what people might think:

http://www.abbeyrestaurant.co.uk/

(They should pay me for marketing services!).

The traditional poor man's breakfast, lunch and dinner:
Baked Dutch pinto beans with baked bacon (strips or dices) and raw onions rings. Served with coarse mustard, pickles and syrup. Not for the faint hearted.
It upsets your digestive sytem for days and it repeats on you for even longer.
But it's delicious.

This was around the time they were also attending Croydon college. I have seen BB6 Vanessa (Markosi's mate) in there but didn't have the nerve to go and say hello. BB5 Marco is the other one. Allegedly Marco (studying Law) coached Vanessa in how to win a place in the BB house.
