So am I! So at least there would be two satisfied viewers if that happens

Define BBC1 being sensible.

Moving Strictly to a later time puts it in The X Factor's time slot. ITV are hardly going to lay down and accept this, placing The X Factor in a really early or really late slot. They'll play hardball, in all liklihood starting The X Factor around 15 minutes before Strictly to gain a lead in it lacked the last time the two shows went head to head in 2007. This in turn will hurt Strictly's ratings.

As someone who watches and loves both shows I'm kind of disappointed with this move. I liked it last year when they were out of each other's way. Now they're going to be head to head again I'm going to have to miss one of them again.

The longer SCD show leaves the BBC less choice. If they show SCD at 6pm (which imo is too early and will hurt it), it wont end until 8:40pm which is far too late to start Merlin.

Putting it this way round, both shows go on a sensible time. Also, SCD has the advantage of being longer and having no ads, both of which I'm sure are encouraging people to watch it and record X Factor. Not to mention that X Factor is repeated.

radically I thought I would wait until I'd seen people dance before deciding who to vote for

I'm looking forward to seeing Kristina and Joe to see what she can do with a decent partner - and to see if he lives up to exp[ectations, ditto seeing Brian with a partner he doens't haver to nursemaid and Ola and Chris (well mr kittles is looking 4ward to seeing Ola anyway)

A rather novel, off-the-wall concept. I think that I might live dangerously and try that as well.

Whoops, I stand corrected! (or rather I'm sitting )

I still like the idea of doing away with the previous practice of all male celebs one week, all female the next.

Also, I think it much fairer that viewers get to see them dance both styles before deciding on who to vote for. (Not that dancing always comes into it, of course )

Sorry didnt really want the post to come out like that... but I was multitasking at the time... posted before I really thought about it... and then by the time I got round to thinking that I should really "refine" the language, I couldnt edit any more... (story of my life at present - do about 10 things at once).

I too thinks its going to be fairer that:
a) they have mixed the couples; and
b) they do a ballroom and a latin before eviction... (sorry thats BB... but you know what I mean!)

Is it going to be shown in HD

yeah, it will be. Can't remember where I read it but it will be .

The main show last year always use to be in HD but the results show wasn't . But seeing as it's all one show now I presume it'll all be in HD .

Absolutely no apology necessary - I said something wrong, you corrected it... that's fine in my book!

Incidentally, I sympathise with the doing 10 things at once - story of my life as well. Why aren't there 10 days to a week, and 6 weeks to a month? Then maybe I'd catch up!

I heard Jon Gaunt flapping his gums about this, today

Really a big issue?

Dancing, can be viewing on BBC iPlayer
X Factor is repeated lots of times

People are complaining because they want to see both live shows on the same evening

But there's still plenty of options that allow people to watch both

As I've posted somewhere else, it has often been later on in the evening for the first week but from then on returns back to its 6ish slot . I remember last year it only went off about 9 because I was up for ever trying to post it on YouTube .

.......and isn't X Factor having a Sunday results show anyway, once the final stages start?

yep .

Although I don't think the time for that has been confimed yet. SCD5's result show was usually 6:30 til 7:15/30pm but SCD6's was 8:00 til 9:00pm apart from one week I think. Could be any time on the Sunday night really

I hope Strictly kicks arse in the ratings.

It was the monotony of the X Factor that drove me to Strictly 4 years ago and I haven't looked back.

I last watched when it was still called Pop Idol and Will Young won.

He was a truly unique talent wasn't he?

I don't watch X-Factor so it's not a problem for me, and although I agree that there are repeats of X-Factor, and iPlayer for Strictly (though it isn't the same), neither option is any good if people want to vote for their favourites!
