But why is it the BBC's 'fault'?

Exactly.

Given all the fuss you'd think two popular TV shows had never clashed before! I could understand it better if we didn't have the technology to still see both shows, but we've all been making choices about what to watch and what to record for years - and now you don't even have to bother recording as the show can be watching later in other ways.

And to blame the BBC...madness.

Well, I'm looking forward to my regular dose of SCD! As I don't watch XF it's not an issue for me and even if it was, that's what Sky+ was invented for (or video/dvd recording!). As has been pointed out, it's not even as if XF is at the voting stage yet so it's not a problem in that respect - folks can still watch it later (I believe it's repeated) without a problem.

I do agree about the media whipping this up into a 'story' - but then again, why bother with restraint when a frenzy can incite their readers and the viewing public into haranguing the BBC (for whom they all seem to have some weird and inexplicable loathing)?

I take no notice of what the redtops (who are responsible for the majority of the bad press) say - then again, I tend to ignore them anyway! They just love to take a molehill and make a mountain out of it (and never let actual 'facts' or anything else get in the way of a good headline or witchhunt!).

Anyway, from this weekend I shall be plonked in front of my telly, Sky+isng NCIS (which SCD is up against and which I love and watch every week) to see later (or indeed, see its repeat on Sunday or next Tuesday!) and marvelling at all the lovely dresses (and maybe bemoaning some of them as well ...) as well as hoping for a few twinkletoe celebs to impress me!

Welcome back, SCD!!!!

They're the one's who've moved Strictly out of it's usual slot.

BUT I'm finishing there because I love the show, love the forum, and don't want to fall out with everyone before the series begins. People have their own opinions which is fair enough. The arguments should be left to being about the couples - not the scheduling.

And what exactly was its usual slot? For another thread elsewhere (one that you should be aware of ), I searched on this forum for last year's start times, and they are certainly not fixed! Some vary by as much as 40 mins.

There isn't any usual slot for it (as mossy pointed out) and also this year's show is a different beast. Since it contains both the main and results shows in one that was always going to affect the schedule.

On the bright side you won't have to worry about SCD and XF results clashing on Sundays

Yep, I'm definitely aware of it.

The usual slot is anything between 5.45 and 6.45 - I don't think it's ever started past 6.45 before.

Now watch me being proven wrong.

That's true. It'll be strange, having Strictly in a all-in-one slot (bar the first two weeks ).
