From a quick comparision of some tracks on the new CD's with those on the old 'Red' album (Singles 1962-1966) CD, the tracks on the new CD certainly have a better bass.

I was a bit concerned when the new 'Please Please me' CD suddenly crashes into mono for 'Love me do' and the following track, and then back to stereo again... but the last page of the booklet reveal that this is intentional - the two-track recording of these two tracks had been discarded before the original stereo LP was produced, so 'fake' stereo versions of these tracks were on the original LP. Shame, I thought I might have a valuable copy!

I got Sgt. Pepper's, the White Album and Abbey Road. They're the first Beatles albums I've ever bought. I'd heard that they were all going to get remastered, so waited till now.

All three albums are excellent, and I really like the packaging.

It's amazing when you think how much greater the albums could've been if they included their singles on them. 'Hey Jude' on the White album, 'Strawberry Fields' on Sgt Pepper etc.

Got Revolver today, amazing album. Lennon and McCartney at their peak

I always regard Revolver as the turning point from 'good' to 'amazing', possibly with Rubber Soul as a taster. I got the White Album today and Revolver, Sgt Pepper and Let it Be are on my birthday and christmas lists. I've got Abbey Road (non remastered) on CD already.

The medley portion of the album on the remaster alone makes the CD a must have, IMO . . .

Yes...I was listening to the new remaster earlier today and it sounds fantastic. That medley is superb.

I've gone 'old school'. I'm listening to 'With The Beatles' on a Dansette as I type...not quite 'hi-fi' but still great nonetheless!

Theres nothing quite like the burst of crackles and scratches as the needle hits the vinyl, in those few seconds before the first track starts - you don't get that with CD . . . .

My fave Beatles song was always Across The Universe, but there's so many versions of it kicking about on various albums.

I'm not sure which version I like best, either the one on Anthology (stripped down to its simplest form and quite fast-paced) or the one on Past Masters with the bird noises.

When I was young, my 'parents' hated The Beatles, and now with hubby, he's always hated The Beatles, so I never really heard of their music. Watching the documentary over the weekend absolutely changed my views of them and how I will never listen to hubby again when it comes down to their music. There was an awful lot of songs I had no idea they sang. The one and only Beatles song I really liked over the years is While My Guitar Gently Weeps. A beautiful, stunning song.
If I had the money, I would buy the CDs, but it can wait another day.

Ahem! Beethoven's 9th Symphony was a setting of a poem by Friedrich Schiller, funny enough.

To STEVE 03. . .check out the "John Lennon Help Demo" on YouTube. . . it's what Help! was meant to sound like (a cry for help from John) before he was told it was too depressive and needed to be sped up and commercialised and thus butchered by George Martin (and Beatles management who needed it to be fast and catchy for the film). It's beautiful.”

Thanks for that info, just read your post. I will check this out later. I've also got a rare audio cassette recording of the Beatles performing at the BBC, singing the album tracks 'Baby It's You' and 'The Things We Said Today'. I've also got some rare studio recordings of the fab four singing 'We Can Work It Out' and 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away'.

I got my stereo remaster box today and have only listened to Please Please Me and With the Beatles so far. I am impressed with the sound, I've never heard the early stuff sound so good before.

I can just tell Abbey Road is going to be amazing.

Cant think why these music corps keep releasing 'just music' cds
we ve been in the age of the video for
30 odd years... we re living in a visually rich... celeb culture...
why dont they release these songs on DVD
with all the perfect sound quality but also with lots and lots of visuals.
Movie clips of the Beatles plus tons of stills and other info.
The disc would also play perfectly well in a cd player.

Got the box-set today for £134.59, and it's well worth it!

I'm 19 and have been a Beatles fan for around two years and a massive one for about half that, and have to agree that they are inter-generational, the amount of young fans they still have proves it.

Listened to bits and pieces of Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour and The White Album so far, and it sounds beautiful, even better than I thought the remasters would, can't wait to have a proper listen to it tonight!

there must be players out now that play both and Im sure EMI could get all that quality and remastered sound onto a DVD
and then a ton of visuals...

EMI have got the technology !
