Alternative to Weetabix
If you are getting tired of your bowl of Weetabix there is an alternative and I don't mean the own brand cheaper stuff. Sunny Bisk has a different taste, texture and shape (slightly). It is from Australia and is, so I understand, the first choice down there. It does not turn to mush as soon as you take the top of the milk bottle off. It does cost a bit more and is packed into one bag, not sleeves of twelve. We buy them in Asdas and are, we think, much nicer.
Sleeves of twelve, sounds like a film title? |

So, apart form the roads, what have the Romans........
I was being long winded in saying I like Sunny Bisk and with luck I can get more to buy it so I can buy it at any shop because Asda is too far from me so I have to buy three boxes per visit. I do like Oatabix and Shredded Wheat. |

They're called Weetbix down under (without the 'a') they have a different shape and texture to our Weetabix. I've not heard of Sunny Bicks before though.

You're better starting the day with a Scottish salad. I think down south it's known as the Full English. Not that healthy but fills you up. Cereal is for wimps.

Sure I'd seen Sunny Bisk in our local 99p store but didn't know what to make of it. I might give it a try now...

I was being long winded in saying I like Sunny Bisk and with luck I can get more to buy it so I can buy it at any shop because Asda is too far from me so I have to buy three boxes per visit. I do like Oatabix and Shredded Wheat. I discovered Weetbix on a trip to Australia in 2000. Unable to find it in the UK, I found out through a friend that it was marketed in South Africa under the name Sunnybisk, so I got a friend who visited there regularly to bring me some back. Then in 2005 I noticed that my local corner shop stocked it, but then discontinued it a few months later. I then managed to get some from a couple of friends visiting Australia; far from ideal, but my only option. Last year I found that the Australia shop in London stocked it, but it cost five times as much as normal and that shop closed down soon after anyway. In May this year I was amazed to see Sunnybisk on sale at a local Aldi in London, but again it was discontinued and none of the other Aldis I visited had even heard of it. I've just returned from a month in Malaysia and the Tesco there had Weetbix, so I brought a pack home. Does anyone know where I can buy this cereal from, that, in my opinion, is far superior to Weet-a-bix ? It's been very frustrating that I've been unable to find a consistent supply in 13 years ! ! ! |
