Bruce is getting more bizarre though. He did a bit of a rant recently when he was meant to be doing happy-smiley-luvvie publicity for SCD.

Takes it a wee bit too seriously, methinks. Wogoff would be good.

I'd rather someone like Bruce, who openly takes the show quite seriously, than someone like Wogan who spent 5 hours+ every year at Eurovision joking about how much it sucked and was silly and he didn't care and then throwing an EPIC SHIT FIT for half an hour because nobody recognised the genius of Andy Abraham.

Bruce as crazy old man sounds awesome. I want him to go full Howard Beale.

Hiya Mamma! I agree it was sad, although this thread was supposed to be to discuss Terry taking over from Bruce, but it has turned into yet another 'moan about Bruce' thread.

He's got as much chance of taking over from Bruce as I have (Oh and Jack was the best character in Torchwood).

I'm sure it's already been posted elsewhere...but for those who don't know, Bruce is going to be on Newsnight tonight (Friday 11th, 10:30pm, BBC2).

His dream come true.

LOL! That's okay then!

Bruce is quite opinionated and a big Newsnight fan, so I'm sure he'll grab the chance to say what he thinks - no wishy washy sitting on the fence! His rant at the press launch the other day was about the misrepresentation by the media of the ratings wars between SCD and X-Factor and he even gave handouts to show SCD was winning!

Apparently, when the figures he gave out were added up, they proved that the X Factor had won the ratings war.

Doddery he isn't!!

Exactly - he is still very much on the ball! Even on SCD where it is all part of his act!

Please could the OP or anybody ask for the thread title to be changed so that we don't have to call Mr Forsythe, 'Buce'.
Gill P

It is impossible to change the titles of threads. I wouldn't call him MR Forsythe anyway. I would call the thread Forsythe v Wogan!

Having just watched Terry hosting the Prom in the Park, I thought he did a pretty good job and could see him taking over from Bruce in the future if he feels up to it. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how Bruce copes with it all this year.

i love bruce i think he suits it well i love his jokes and his silly little mishaps

wouldnt be the same without him

i agree about wot someone said about terry he hated eurovision didnt even want to be hosting and although somethings he said were funny after awhil it got a bit stupid saying the whole thing was a farce

Terry loved the ESC and commentating on it, however as with most of us he became weary of the voting patterns etc. His critique was tongue in cheek and he said what we were all thinking, however he got out at the right time for him.

He would do well in the SCD job .... he was the original Come Dancing host back in the 70's.

They are both multi-millionaires and as mean as. Wogan won't do Children in need without his hefty fee and why is Bruce getting half a million for SCD when I thought he was taking a pay cut.
One thing they have in common is their vanity and refusal to go out without their wigs. You would think two old men who need never work again wouldn't care about showing themselves the way they are, when everyone knows they are both wearing toupes.

I think this will be Bruce's last year doing Strictly- I like him but the rambling introductions, fluffed jokes , interruptions during the judges speeches etc. show that he should be replaced but with who I can't think. Certainly not Tess's husband Vernon who I read she was putting a word in for !

I'd prefer Bruce to continue into his nineties rather than Vernon Kaye take over. When Brucie does go, please take Tess with him!

I could not agree more, I watch the show despite the awful presenters. Bruce Forsyth has had his day and Tess Daly is just awful (like her husband Vernon Kaye). I dont think Wogan is the man for the job though.

I would suggest Anton Dubeke and Alesha Dixon.

Hey hey it's Groundhog Day again on the SCD forums with the annual who should replace Brucie discussion!

But it's true what they say...better the devil you know...you don't know what you have 'til it's gone...the grass is always greener...didn't he do well!!
