The only way to get the IMEI unblocked is for the person that arranged to have it blocked (usually when reporting a phone lost/stolen) to ask for the block to be lifted.

That might not always be possible (depending on the network).

It is also a criminal offence to change the IMEI (in case you were thinking along these lines) of a mobile phone/other mobile network device.
The whole idea was to make the robbing of mobile phones a pointless hobby.

If you give the network proof of purchase, they will arrange for the IMEI to be unblocked. This is assuming the phone is your property.

Its very rare for a network to block the imei UNLESS the phone has been nicked. Im afraid if it has been nicked they wont unblock it for you. They could expect you to return the handset.
Is the phone branded ie vodafone o2 etc?? if yes and call the network up, They *MIGHT* tell you why its been imei blocked. The only network i know that blocks imei's for non payment is o2 and thats the iphone only. The rest dont unless its been nicked.
Quick question though what is the imei???

*#06# to display it.
If its 0000000000000000 then it hasnt been blocked its a bad flash, unlock thats screwed up the software.

What does the phone say when u put a sim in it??? Try o2 voda etc

You could well be right teletv, its easy to obliterate the IMEI on a Samsung if you don't know what you are doing when unlocking.

Sadly very true - I'd done plenty of Nokia unlocking over the years, and then tried unlocking a Samsung D900 .... and it went and wiped the IMEI.

Incredibly bad design from Samsung to have code that would actually allow that though

Some Samsungs can even have the IMEI wiped, just by entering a code. Of course, some of the less savoury elements on the net will sell you this code as an unlocking code. Very poor design.
