Failed recording x2
Night Watchman
09-09-2009
On Monday night my Humax PVR failed to record The Wire and yesterday episode 12 of the Hairy Bikers Tour - both BBC 2 series programmes. Fortunately I can catch the repeat of The Wire on Friday night but the Bikers is lost - ruined the series. This is a first for me - all recordings have gone flawlessly up until now. Other series recordings on Monday and Tuesday went well. Anyone else having problems?

If it helps, it's available to watch on BBC iplayer,

Oh ignore that, just spotted your location!

It's also available to download from uknova.com

The series link has failed for me several times during The Wire series, presumably because the BBC have not fully got to grips with the technology yet.

The Wire has been problematic on both Freesat & Freeview at various times.

I'm away at the moment, and I hope my Hairy Bikers has recorded OK, a great series.

Rgds.

Thanks GC.

If everyone else's is OK, NW may just have to put it down to a one-off, unexplained.

The Wire recorded without problems for me on Monday (series linked) although I have had a previous episode fail to record. I don't use auto-padding.

My schedule for Hairy Bikers hasn't updated from today to tomorrow and when I press the ibutton on todays reservation it tells me it's Match of the Day Live: Women Euro final 2009 and it has no Series Crid. But when I press the ibutton on the actual recording it confirms the correct programming details.

Was the football shown before HBs and if so has the programme data enchroached on the data for HBs?

The recording appears to still be set for tomorrows show as the clock icon is active..

Might be worth others checking their schedules.

edit: the reason I checked this is because my stb should have returned to full standby but the clock was still showing as if it was within T-15 of another reservation, and there is no recording set.

GC,

I'm home now.

All episodes recorded OK, and timer moved to tomorrow in Schedule, both CRIDs present

Thanks savvy

I shut the box down after posting and rebooted when I saw your post.. All seems to have corrected itself. I guess the epg updated on the reboot. Just strange that the old reservation carried the football data.

ps did you have a nice time away?

Just failed to record The Bill tonight. Luckily we were in to see it not recording, and have only just missed a couple of minutes.

Hmm.... Yes possibly.

I only checked mine after switching on and it rescanned for the two changes whilst I'd been away, and then the EPG rebuilt as normal after that, so maybe the same effect.

Re the time away, thanks for asking. We went away on the boat last Saturday, came home today as the winds got a bit too high for comfortable motor cruising, although the sailing yachts were loving it.

I didn't realise just how much we recorded each day, the HDD is 78% full; I'm going to have to upgrade the disk sooner than I wanted to !!

Rgds.
