Weird phone call from '3'!
Whovian
10-09-2009
Just had a call on my mobile from a firm claiming to be 3! My mobile number is registered with the system which is supposed to opt me out of calls like this and I have never got one like this on my phone before. They claimed to be using a 'gps' call filter which I have never heard of before and claimed to know when my mobile phone contract was due to expire (way out by the way) and could they offer me a better deal!
It seemed very odd and the number they used was a 01792 number ending in 440 (in case anyone else gets one of these calls).
Has anyone else had one of these calls before - seemed really odd.

Either Communications Direct or Splash Global - both based in Swansea and train their staff to try to convinve you they're connected to the networks.

Best way to deal with them if they call you again is keep them talking as long as possible pretending to sound really interested then at the end of the call just say you're leaving the country next week so you can't go ahead with it.

But then your time gets wasted too. I would spend the time asking why they are defying the TPS and calling me?

But the agent on the phone will have no idea why your number is being used - it's not their job to know or find out.

I hate the fact they pretend to be from the network, as far as I'm concerned this is fraud.

They are duping you and lying about who they are. Watchdog should be investigating these people I would report it to them as they are back on TV shortly.

This is the normal service that customers receive. Don't bother hanging up - the call will drop all by itself! LOL
