3G connection problem on iPhone 3G

I've just got an iPhone 3G. It's used but everything works fine. It is on O2 pay as you go. I have a problem connecting to the internet. The wifi works fine in my home but when i try to use a 3G or edge connection all i get is the following pop up message:

'could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service.'

Do I need to configure certain GPRS settings on my phone somewhere? I can't find what to do anywhere!?

Can anyone help me? How do I fix this?

If you need to know anymore about the phone, let me know.

Thanks

Goto Settings > General > Network > Celluar Data Network and change the APN settings from idata.o2.co.uk to payandgo.o2.co.uk then set the username to Vertigo and Password to the word Password then the Internet should work.
