His new album seems to have disappeared off the charts pretty quickly and all seems quiet - would it be correct to say that he is flopping, or is he still doing well for a classical artist?

I think flop is too strong. The second album probably hasn't sold as many in the uk as syco would have liked. You have bear in mind that paul has success in over 20 countries and he is in the middle of a world tour and he has already toured the us, canada, czech republic, colombia, peru, holland, belgium, sweden, and denmark and is about to start touring germany with austria, switzerland and the uk to follow, all this year. As far as the second album is concerned, it has been very succesful in asia where it is platinum in 4 taiwan, korea and japan. Additionally, it is the biggest selling international album in japan so far this year. So I would say he hasn't flopped.

All products of Simon Cowell will eventually flop. It's as if it's part of their contracts.

Thanks for that info. There seems to be surprisingly little on the web about whether Paul is doing well or not.

Paul Potts is MASSIVE in Germany and Germany is the 3rd biggest music territory in the World after the US and Japan.

I don't think Paul would really care if he didn't do as well in the UK as it really is a small fry compared to some other countries where paul has had success.

Yes hes flopped, they have made as much money out of him as they could so they now move on to the next short lived project 'susan boyle'.

he had all his initial success thanks to all the BGT hype. naturally people forget about it and get bored of it after a short while, same will probably happen with Susan Boyle within a year. but Potts is still doing well for himself, just not on the same scale as he was immediately after he won BGT.

The country where it all started you mean?

I hope Paul would never become as arrogant as you are.

I have seen interviews that Paul has done and there is one in the Daily telegraph that is referenced on the BGT thread where he talks about his gratefulness to the GB public for giving him the opportunity that he has been given.

He is big in both Germany (he is touring there right now, in fact) AND in japan where he will be doing a 7 city tour in the Spring, but he has always shown gratefulness for BGT and the people who voted for him

He's still doing doing his worldwide tour. He is massivly popular in the USA in fact most countries except here as with Susan Boyle it seems, we soon get bored don't we !

Just look this myspace page to give an indication of how much in demand he still is :-

Oh the Union Jack wavers - don't you just love them. Get over it the UK is a small country and so insular - would we ever have a German top our charts - don't think so. Look at all the other charts in Europe - language is no barrier to success - but then again most of their population is educated and can speak other languages - our arrogance as a nation is that we think it's OK not to.
