I have just recieved my bill from BT for my landline with a call out charge of £99.00 on it. I had a problem with noise on the line and called them out to get it fixed. The engineer When to the window as I have a little white box on there disconnected it and connected his thing on it to check the line.

The engineer told me that there was noise on the line, but not enough to warrant him to go to the exchange. He told me he was going to the box on the street and check there.

Half an hour later he got back in touch with me and the line was crystal clear. He turned around to me that he changed something box on the street.

Yesterday I phoned up BT and told them all of the above and they looking into it as I feel I shouldn't have been charged it. If the engineer says that there is noise on the line and did a test which disconounted the line in the house then there was a problem, but as the enginner said that there was noise on the line, but not enough to warrant him to go to exchange them I feel that there was a problem which the engineer couldn't be bothered to sort out and feel he could make a easy buck from me and say that there wasn't a problem and that noise is still on the line.

Update with my problem I have just had a phone call because there customer services or fault line services didn't go through any fault finding with me that they are cancelling the £99.00 fee and then they tried to say that I owed them £43.00 which when I calculated after my credits was deducted and vat added it worked out at £17.11.
