I was wondering about the house! It looks good. When the wife goes away poor Ama is going to have to put up with a lot. I reckon she is going to rehab.

The house is definitely real. It adds a great air of authenticity to the story to know they're in an actual house, not just a TV set. I hope they spin this story out a good bit longer and don't bring it to an abrupt end.....I'm enjoying this barmy posh couple

They're so bad they're great! I do feel sorry for the kids, but it's so entertaining to watch the parents being such nasty, horrible people. The mother just walking through the mopped kitchen made me laugh, and himself announcing that "she might have to go away for a while" so casually to Ama was hilarious.

I suppose it's no more mind boggling than Phil Mitchell being able to pull some of the women he's had over the years. Poor Sean. I prefer him to Callum.

There's probably an element of truth in the storyline. You often hear of these posh types virtually treating au pairs like slaves and making them work for 12-14 hours a day and do jobs that they're not supposed to do. The mother is strangely believable in that sense.

Or Max Branning for that matter

I do question Sean's taste though....Maeve is far from a great catch

Oh, it's almost the first thing you think of when you hear the word. My bro walked in during one of the scenes and asked "Is she kidnapped or something?" and got the answer "No, she's an au pair" and his response was "oh right. Fair enough."

I'd still like to know what the hell is going on with McCormack's accent though.

There were some great comedy lines from him during Thursday's episode : "Take a Xanax and go back to bed" when his missus was becoming hysterical

They're quite a believable couple in one sense though.....you often hear of posh types who marry for money and status and it is more of a business arrangement than a marriage. Both of them are a stereotype but you just know there a lot of people like them out there.

Yeah, that's very true, just like there's a lot of women like Judy Dillon, staying with a husband she doesn't love, excusing all his affairs, for the sake of her reputation and standing with her neighbours. And I personally know an Esther, even down to the hair style! I do sort of feel sorry for women like Mrs McCormack though, even though they know they're getting into for the money. They work for their wages, that's for sure, but they're usually bitterly unhappy, just like she is.

Is that the McCormacks finished with the show now?

I don't know. I sort of hope not: they're hilariously bad.

I'm not entirely sure : he seems to have sort of Anglo-American accent.

But then at times he almost has an Australian inflection to some words. Very puzzling, but I assume he was told to 'sound posh' and that's what he came up with. Quite realistic, considering D4. My brother was walking in Dublin behind a couple who had had an argument, and the woman kept calling for her boyfriend; "Mork! Mork! Waish up, Mork!" and someone else walking nearby shouted "Mork! Wait for Mindy!"

I always chuckle when I see Vivienne and Paddy together. She has a strong D4 accent and he has a flat working class accent.....they must have been an odd couple in their younger years

Just thought of something: an interesting twist on the marriage for a green card subject:
What about Laura and Ama getting a civil union...? Would that work? I don't ever remember seeing that done on any other soap. Although to be honest, when Ama came into it, I had her pegged as a love interest for Laura instead of Damo.

also, Damo just blurting out to Wayne: "Will you marry Ama?" made me laugh an awful lot.

According to Google, a civil partnership does entitle the partner to become an Irish citizen. Maybe Laura should be less gung ho about Wayne being the hubby and offer her own services

I chuckled too when Wayne hurled the flowers unceremoniously onto his "girlfriend" Maeve's lap

"You owe me 30 euro for that lot!" Love Wayne! He's so funny sometimes.

Spoiler
but they do seem to get together, in the next week or two.

Haven't watched Fair City in a few months (had no RTE) so I'm a bit confused.

Who is Carol's new man and what happened to Louie?
I thought Yvonne was leaving?

I like the new character and her interactions with Zumo.

Louie was due to marry Carol but she found out at the last moment he had been sleeping with his ex-missus. He drew up a plan to flee the country with Carol's baby and the ex-wife and children but she managed to stop him taking the child, and I think he went to the US with the rest of the family.

Carol's bf is Anthony Farrell, a rather dodgy solicitor who represented some of Carol's gangster friends in the past.

It was nice to see Zumo and Decco having a bit of craic together in the pub. Ama works well with them too. I've been meaning to ask as well:
Spoiler
Is Leo going out of it? Himself and the fella who play Barry have a new TV show where they'll be going around Ireland on motorbikes taking a look at houses and locations with a lot of ghosts and myths attached to them.

It's not just you.

As much as I love Yvonne and Carol, they along with Farrell seem to be having the same conversation four times in every episode and with Tommy returning this weekend we're probably going to have the same old stuff with the Dillons again. Orla needs a break as well,

What was Dermot playing at as well, divulging personal financial information about Leo to Paul.
