Yeah, nice to see a few of the 'lesser' characters popping up around Callum. Poor Laura

Poor Yvonne Agree about having the Carol/Dan stuff running alongside. Wasn't bad tonight, but the sooner Jane buggers off back under her rock the better.

Paul and Niamh left themselves open to this Jane nonsense by moving Callum in with them.....it's all a bit bizarre as her only connection to Paul is a one night stand lasting a couple of hours 19 years ago.

Still annoys me, Eurostar. The whole thing is nonsense.

At least we know if she does eventually get Paul where she wants him that she wont end up pregnant. One child per woman is Pauls rule.

Will Jane ever do something with her silly schoolgirl braids? It looks ridiculous on a 30 something woman.

It doesn't look like Jane will be going anywhere soon. More the pity as it is such a predictable storyline...especially for Paul. They act like Callum is 8 instead of 18. He's a big boy now. And Jane's incessant twisting the conversation back to make her look the victim and whoever she is speaking to as the villain. It is getting old very quickly.

Glad to see Laura get a story. She looked terrified.

This sounds terrible I know but Yvonne needed to look a bit more "hurt". Perhap her dress torn more or something to really show what had just happened. But the camera angle with her tears was quite moving. I am sure Ciara will do this story justice.

I'm sorry but considering the usually well-groomed Yvonne was going around Carraigstown looking dishevelled with her hair all limp and messy, and not a single person passed a comment on it was a complete SOR.

I don't think she would have been dating that Martin guy either. He looked scruffy (even in a suit) and like a complete sleazebag.....she'd more likely go for a slick businessman with style and panache.

Well I got the impression Bob and Dan noticed but were snapped at for speaking to her. Dan noticed enough to say it to Carol , not about her appearance as such but more her demeanour and Bob didn't interact with anyone other than Jane about a job and Ama over the needle. He knew there was something wrong though... I think Bela just thinks she's a hungover hussy but I think he should've noticed there was something very wrong with her.

Well she more likely would... But no slick businessmen answered her ads or got in touch , she only went with him because she was jealous of Carol and Dan.

Loving the Yvonne story. The spoilers look good too. Nice to see the actress getting something she sink her teeth in to, too.

I know Yvonne was snappy with Carol after she tried to help her. But, Yvonne is so defensive so that was no surprise. I hope Carol persists because those two as friends could be pretty epic.

It will be interesting to see where the writers take Laura's story. Hepatitis C would be a twist over HIV. I hope Paul and Niamh learn soon that Laura was injured afterall.

The needle story is certainly interesting, though as has been pointed out, the chances of catching anything from a syringe that had been lying on the grass for hours or even days is miniscule.

True, but she was already on her second date with him when she was assaulted by him. It's hard to imagine him being remotely her type or someone she would date.

The story would actually have been more intriguing if he had been a suave and seemingly charming businessman.

Meanwhile Jane appears to be a real Walter Mitty. She claimed to have managed a pub in Camden but when she got behind the bar in McCoys, she hadn't a clue how to pull a pint and evidently had zero bar experience. I don't know whether she believes her own lies or is just a chancer and user.

I figured she was a chancer, Eurostar. I have to say, I quite like Jane behind the bar. The actress isn't bad, and the character stands a chance if they keep her away from Paul friggin Brennan. I think what I dislike about Jane/Paul is the fact that it's christmas, and it's yet another tedious affair story. Jo/Tommy worked, ditto Ama/Damien/Caoimhe, because they built at a good pace and you could see why Jo, Tommy and Damien would do it, even if you didn't agree. With Paul it's just a yawn fest because we've seen it before with EVERY one of his marriages/relationships. And I still think it's a bit unbelievable that they'd either of them go back after a one night stand almost 20 years ago!

Why is there suppose to be this intense sexual tension between Jane and Paul? Their fling lasted a few minutes after "six margaritas" (as Jane said)when she was 19. I am surprised she even remembered his name. It's ludicrous and a storyline so overdone and tired...especially when it comes to Paul. I just want it to go away.

The story became extremely far fetched when Callum moved in with Paul and Niamh. Most people who are the result of a one night stand do not move in with their biological father after discovering his identity....it is most unconventional.

Jane seems very manipulative and only interested in Paul because he has money in the bank. I'm not sure what her aim is.....split he and Niamh up and move in with him and Callum and become a "kept woman"?

Jane seems rather one dimensional so far. All we have seen from her is scheming and flinging herself at Paul and trying to get him into bed. I'm not really sure what she's up to apart from appearing to be a proverbial golddigger.

Callum is quite the little "parrot" passing information back and forth, verbatim, between the Brennans and Jane.

Question: Could Jane really sue for back child support when she never informed Paul of Callum's existence?

Second question: If Yvonne and Martin go to court will their pasts be allowed to be brought up in court? In criminal trials I thought it was illegal to do that?

A friend of mine reported her rape about ten years ago , it was her boyfriend, no evidence his word against hers and the gard told her her past would be brought up on the stand if she got to a trial :-/
Now was ten years ago so maybe things are different now but I'd imagine in a case where it does come down to one word against the other they have to build a case around the people involved

As for Jane I really doubt it, she never claimed or attempted to claim for Callum so I doubt any judge would award backpay no matter what sob story she spun the judge , especially as she was married to someone else in a matter of months.
If Callum was living with her now she might be able to claim something if he was going to college or something not 100% sure on that

Rape trials involving two people who know each other are always difficult to prosecute, as it's one person's word against the other. It's not impossible to get a conviction in such cases but it can be tricky.

Orla threatened to bar Yvonne from McCoys last night over her treatment of Rachel, but isn't Yvonne her boss in fact, or am I missing something?

That's what I thought ... Orla is normally terrified of Yvonne. I thought it was a bit piss of Orla to go tattling to Bela the way she did.
Yes to an outsider Yvonne was a total bitch to Rachel but telling Bela only seemed to bother Rachel more and upset Bela. But sure we had to have Bela tell Yvonne she deserved what happened to her in order to have her fight for her case and move the story along

Im liking the friendships at the moment - Wayne and Damien, Laura and Ama and Caoimhe

It was certainly funny to see Orla telling Yvonne she was considering barring her from the pub, when Yvonne is her boss.....did the scriptwriters temporarily forget this?

I wonder if there is a lesbian angle coming with Laura and one of the two girls? She probably secretly fancies one of them........
