Why's this thread died?

Have been trying to get into FC this month but I'm not finding it easy. Last night's episode was just non-stop aggression and nastiness. If it's trying to emulate EastEnders or something, it's backfiring spectactularly.

OMG what the hell has happened to Dean?!
To think I used to fancy the pants off him just a few years ago during his last stint.
The hair is simply horrendous and it looks as if he has aged 20 years.

I've stopped watching now. I tried to watch when Charlotte came back, but I couldn't. it's gone so bad now.

The Dolores cancer story is very good and I like the new doctor.
Orla is a little OTT in her acting in her reaction to Junior's ear condition. It's not fatal.
It is getting old with Paul and Jane tearing lumps out of each other.
Not much else bubbling away at the moment.

The actress playing Doloroes is abominable. She is nowhere near good enough to pull off a cancer story.

Has there been any more talk of his son coming into it since he arrived.

I wonder is Tommy Dillon coming back into it with all the stuff with Orla and the baby.

How long before dean & Louise get together?!?!

Dan is way more annoying. And Paula is straight out of the Rita Doyle school of acting

Dean is dreadful as is Paula, I could do with seeing the back of both of them.

Max and Farrah have no chemistry for a couple at all, its almost bizarre how cold they always are together.

As for the never ending love triangle with Carol, Robbie, Dan, its ridiculous and way too much.

Would anyone advise getting into Fair City if I live in England?

I think Red Rock is a great soap, is Fair City on her same par? My boyfriend who's from Dublin says its the Irish equivalent of Hollyoaks, quality wise.

I dunno, to be honest I don't know if I'd watch if I wasn't Irish although I've not really seen Red Rock due to its air times so I can't really compare the two.

Fair City is in a bit of a dull patch story-wise I think at the minute too, dunno what others think about that.

I'm in England and I would thoroughly recommend never watching Fair City! It doesn't come within 100 hectares of the brilliant Red Rock.

It's got quite a lot of strong characters. However the newer additions including Dan, Farrah, Max, Paula are atrocious. And at the moment they're all featuring heavily. The producers need to realise nobody gives a tiny rats ass about Dan being paralysed or Farrah's photography

To be honest, the bad patch spoken of earlier has been going on for quite a long time. And it doesn't look like it's going to get any better any time soon.

Red Rock would be along the lines of Casualty production wise with a bit of The Bill thrown in.

Fair City is very much your traditional soap, sort of a cross between Eastenders and Coronation Street, with not one but two pubs, a restaurant, a fast food joint, a supermarket, a garage, a hairdressing salon etc.

The fast food joint that is clearly Eddie Rockets without the product placement

I agree about Dan, Farrah, Paula and Max. Paula is the worst of the lot of them. What the hell is up with her hair?? I wonder will Kerri-Ann have a go at it when she comes back.
I'm liking the new doctor, I hope he's in it for the long haul.

Yeah her hair is so odd, like is that a character thing or a personal choice?

I've no idea, it's just rotten lol. Kerri-Ann will be appalled when she sees it!

Having watched it since RTE Player was available in UK, I would agree it is probably on the par with Hollyoaks although possibly more akin to how Family Affairs was paced.

The Irish rules seem to say they don't need that P logo as we do in the UK.

There musn't be a Honduran embassy in Dublin because RTE are doing such a wholly negative story line. Sure Honduras is dangerous but talk about stretching when they went down the homophobic attack line. Can you imagine if Days of Our Lives was all like "Don't go to Ireland the IRA might blow you up". The outrage would be immense over here.

Yes, it's a bit odd that they're able to slag off a country like this. It seems their storyline is topical as Stephen Fry said very recently that he experienced very strong homophobia there.....not sure whether that's coincidental or not or if the scriptwriters are alluding to something else,
