This show can be truly awful at times to watch. Stories that should be gripping like the Katy one have been needlessly dragged out and there are too many repetitive scenes between Niamh/Dermot scheming against Paul, various characters crabbing at each other to fill screen time and even by this show's standards, Cathal is hilariously dreadful and unthreatening 'baddie'.

Speaking of the Katy thing, RTE have their suspects for that one ....

I honestly think the show needs something of an overhaul - cut it to two episodes a week, break for summer, lose some of the weaker actors/characters, especially the ones that are going essentially nowhere, add some interesting new characters, better plan out the storylines (the day to day ones are bloody awful) and just modernise things a bit. Even the speakeasy story doesn't seem like something a character like Oisin would be that fussed about.

Even their recent 4000th episode was a massive non event. If RTE made the effort with the show and put the same care that TV3 at least do with Red Rock, it could at least be watchable but nowadays it barely even makes for decent background telly.

Fair City is still worth watching for the unintentional funny moments like when Hayley thumped Laura the other week

Two months later and still no end in sight to the Katy story and Niamh still looking for her money.

How long before Nora and Ray are together?
