Jade Ewen & Radio1 playlist...
does anyone know WHY jade ewens new track 'my man', is not on the radio1 playlist? its a great tune, and has potential to do really well, not to mention i think jade is just as talented as alex burke. yet alex will be played to death on radio1. its so frustrating, radio1 claim they are leaders, but IMO, i think they are just followers, cos if jade makes top 10, then you can be sure she will mysteriously appear on the playlist.

Didn’t the song premier on Radio 1? But the song should be added to the play list, personally I think my man its better than anything Alisha Dixon has come out with.
And it would be nice if the BBC promoted Jade for “stardom” cause then they can take a little bit of credit for discovering her. |

I don't see why Jade's single should be playlisted. It's not the song of the century, and she is certainly not as talented as Alexandra Burke. She also comes across as quite arogant.

I suppose she'll be playlisted soon enough, only as a member of the Sugababes.

And of course Alexandra's not arrogant at all
![]() Quote from Jade: "I didn't go for X Factor because it wasn't big enough until Leona." - DS interview. Quote from Alex: "If I have even a quarter of the success that Leona has had, I will die a happy woman." - Said on the X Factor a couple of times. |

Alexandra is excitable, but not particularly arrogant.

So she chose Eurovision instead? ![]() So many global stars from Britain have been launched from this platform over the last few years - Gemini, Scooch (?), Andy Abraham, Javine Jordan's renowned music career.... |

With Jade, it seems to be a mixture of arrogance and fear. I think she never did X-Factor, because even though she has an extremely (misguided) high opinion of her own talents, she was afraid that she wouldn't win. She used Leona as an excuse, but she could have done it the year after Leona won. Her recent interview with digitalspy revealed that she considered doing X-Factor again after seeing Alexandra do well, but decided to do the much less difficult Your Country Needs You for Eurovision. Jade said;
"I remember watching Alexandra and thinking, "maybe I should have a go next year". But then Eurovision thing came up. Maybe I would have though". So basically, Jade saw one female act do well on X-Factor (Leona) and lacked the courage to do it. She saw another in Alexandra do well, and decided to opt for Eurovision, which is much easier, but doesn't create stars. Jade sounds like she was waffling about whether or not to do X-Factor for two or three years. She could have entered in Leon Jackson's year or Alexandra's year, but she didn't. Jade wants to be an international superstar, without actually taking any risks. I think Jade would be too worried about not even making it past bootcamp on X-Factor. In a really talented season like Alexandra's, it's very possoble that Jade wouldn't even get past the bootcamp stage. I don't think her ego could handle that. Jade just lacked the courage to do X-Factor, imho. Leona and Alexandra are in the postion they are in, because they proved their talent on the most difficult talent show in the country. They risked humiliation and rejection, where Jade refused to. Jade wants the superstardom, but I suspect deep down, she knows she isn't as good as she thinks she is, which is why she always found a good reason to avoid X-Factor. |

i used that same term on another thread. i was told i was the arrogant one for reading an interview with her and deciding i didn't like her personality before i had heard her music. ..yeah, work that one out. |

Fact is I didn't like the way she came across in interviews that I had read - even the journalist made it clear he found her a bit haughty in one. |

I fail to see where the accusations of arrogance come from. She was the height of politeness when she was touring the TV studios of Europe pre-Eurovision. I'd say Jade made exactly the right decision. She's landed a record deal out of the Eurovision show and, if rumours are to be believed, is about to join the Sugarbabes. Not bad going. How many people with talent walk away from the X Factor with nothing to show for it? Nearly all of them.
Reports are saying that Jade was just about to be dropped by Geffen, due to the distinct lack of interest in her first single. Record companies don't hang about if you are going nowhere. If that's true, the Sugababes is the only option left for her as she is desperate for a music career - this will be the fourth venture she has tried to gain some kind of career. If this signals the end of the Sugababes, as is most likely, Jade will have the poisoned chalice of being always remembered as the singer that finished them off. |

Amazing how quickly people jumped off that bandwagon. Jade was never a threat to Alex....people just wanted someone (anyone) to challange Alexandra, and Jade was a convinient option. Her solo floppage has come as absolutely no shock to me. Good luck to her on her latest attempt to be a "superstar" by joining the Sugababes. But she seems more interested in being a superstar than actually working to improve her talent and be an artist. |

If Simon did that to Alex, I'd be nervous for her (but Alex is too good for girl bands ).

Jade won't be satisfied with being yet another Sugbabes member, in a dying group. Listening to Jade talk, she clearly wants to be a global solo superstar . She wants to be Leona. She wants to have the same opportunities for international solo stardom that Alexandra might get. She likes to be talked about in the same breath as them. If she thought she was that good, she should have walked the walk and gone out and won X-Factor. The truth is, she's not that good, and it's fanciful for her to be compared to Leona or Alexandra. |
