absolutely, been waiting for the new album for ages! i think Pixie Lott will be right behind them, but there's no way she'll beat them to no.1

How did this happen?
Has she received a lot of promotion and publicity this week?

Anyway, I'm really pleased for her.
Congratulations.

I don't know how on earth that happened but for some reason I'm really pleased that it did.

Jamie T was leading the pack all week, until the saturday buyers swung it for Vera Lynn. that's a great achievement for her to get a no.1 album in today's chart, even if album sales have been relatively low this year.

"Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day?
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else here
feel the way I do?".....Roger Waters 1979.

The lyrics from the 1979 track "Vera" from the Pink Floyd album "The Wall"

I bet when Roger Waters wrote that he never thought she would be still alive and number one in the album charts 30 years later!!

Good on her!

Good songs, good music and a good voice are all timeless...

There were some great female singers in that era and it's good to see that people still appreciate them.

How aware is Vera? At 92 i've got visions of a little old lady who's in a world of her own in a rocking chair with a minder trying to tell her 'YOU GOT TO NUMBER ONE, VERA!'

I think she's very aware.
I saw an interview with her on some news show the other week. I was quite surprised because a) I didn't realise she was still alive and b) She looks quite good for 92.

Can't remember what she was saying, something about been surprised to be back in the charts after all these years and she even sang a couple of lines from one of her songs.
