Let's hope 250,000 is overall, as that would have meant about 18,000 per show.
Out of interest, how are the tickets for their Christmas Specials distributed?”
Up until last year the tickets for the Christmas Special became available about a couple of weeks beforehand although it wasn't advertised anywhere - you just had to keep phoning the ticket unit. I was lucky enough to go for a couple of years, but last year they kept them for celebs and those people who had tickets for the main show but hadn't managed to get in and were offered tickets for the Christmas Special instead.
Re number of applications, I myself applied about 35 times last year via various friends and most of my committed friends did the same thing, so I suspect 250,000 per show might have been about right. Incidentally it was Stuart, the warm up guy, who told me this when he was warming up the audience for Ready Steady Cook (I went there last week.)
And when you think the web site crashed several times when the ticket lottery opened, and it's impossible to get through on the phone for days, there's obviously an awful lot of people applying for tickets.
