Hi all,

I have a 28" Samsung WS28V53N CRT TV which I need to get rid of. Its been hanging around for ages just taking up space and now I've moved into a slightly smaller house it feels like it's taking up even more space.

It seems a waste just to take it to the recycling centre to throw away but I don't want to go through the hassle of trying to sell it on eBay.

I know I won't get very much for it, but what do you think is the best way to get rid? Would CEX or Cash Converters take this kind of thing or are they only interested in LCD/Plasma these days?

Any ideas and help much appreciated.

Thanks.

You could ring and ask - but really it's pretty worthless, Sony 28's only make £20 or so on Ebay.

I won't have anything other than a CRT set in my house, and it's so sad to think of all the perfectly decent sets which must have been dumped. Sadly, I can't give homes to them all!

Gumtree would be worth a try. http://manchester.gumtree.com/ (assuming your location is correct!) It's free to list so nothing to lose.

Unfortunately my location isn't correct. I have since moved out of Mancunia.

I don't really expect to get much more than £15 quid for it, but every little helps. Just a shame its so heavy because it makes it more difficult to get it down to the shops to see what they'll give.

Finally got rid of the 32" Toshiba CRT out of the garage the other week. Had absolutley no interest from anyone even when offering it as a freebie.

There should be a gumtree site for your area if you search - definitely worth a try as you might just get someone who'll pick it up from your home. As I said, nothing to lose. I recently sold an exercise bike which had been taking up space (another thing that's awkward to transport), the chap came and collected it and paid £30 for it!

There's also MySkip.com if you are offering the TV for free.

Or freecycle, or whatever they call themselves now.

I gave my old 36" away to a friend. It broke his car, so not exactly a bargain for him.

Got to have been something wrong with the car, even a 36" isn't that heavy

We turned down a 36" Toshiba a few years back now, still under extended warranty - even when free it's not worth the bother.

Rover 100? Lets just say the rear axle failed the MOT and the car wasn't worth as much as a new axle.
I'd have kept the TV for the bedroom, but would probably break my back getting it up there!

Quite a few charity shops will take them. I contacted one in my area and they were happy to come and collect it.

At least somebody will get the benifit from it and it's cheaper than paying the council to take it away

Exactly the place. I have recently purchased a couple of 14 inch TV's for kitchen and bedrooms at £8 a piece from the charity link below and they are fine.

You could always Trade in at a Sony Centre who are doing £50 off a medium sized or £100 a large screen when you buy a new one...
