I have an xp pc running media centre 2005 connected to my tv via a dvi to hdmi adapter and then the hdmi cable straight into the hdmi/dvi port on my lcd tv.

I have two tv cards installed in my pc, one is digital and one is analogue. I have connected a s-video cable from my sky hd box to the s-video on one of the tv cards as i want to be able to record sky on my pc hardrive.

I then have a red and white audio cable connected to the line out on my pc and at the other end the cable is a headphone jack which plugs into the back of my tv which says sound for hdmi/input.

I have sound from my pc through the tv and when i load up media centre i hear all the sounds. I can also listen to music and watch films through media centre with sound but when i go to live tv where I can see my sky channels i have no sound at all.

On my tv card i also have a red and white and yellow connection. At the moment i have a red and white cable connected from the tv card to a line in on my pc. Is this correct ? or do i not need this and having the cable from the line out to my tv sufficient.

Can anyone help with this as I have been trying for hours and still cant get sound on live tv.

The S-Video connection from the Sky box is VIDEO only. it does not carry any audio, that is what the red and white phono connectors on the TV card are for. They need to be connected to the red and white phono audio connectors on the Sky box.

The way you have it connected at the moment you have the TV card audio input connected to the audio input of the PC. Which is never going to work. You always connect an input to an output, never an input to an input and certainly never connect an output to an output!
