IF they take it for repair, INSIST on a replacement being provided meantime. With any luck they will let you hang on to a new one......
It may be worth your while using the on-line Toshiba website to outline your problems - a "paper trail" is very useful and will be proof of their responses to you. Better than a phone call with a less than interested 'help desk' person.
As I said, my machine was putting up a message to the effect that iit "could not record to disk" along with a set of letters and numbers. This clearly rang a bell at HQ because they came back to me in 24 hours and told me the machine had a fault.
