After John Sergeant was insulted and bullied off the show last year by the judges, forcing wholesale changes on the show, will the voting Public get behind Joe Calzaghe and his 'partner?' Kristina Rihanoff, and win the show in Memory of the Peoples Champion John Sergeant.

Early signs are promising!

' Her on Him,

Joe's amazing... he just keeps going and going'

'Him on Her,

She's irresisstable. I can't keep my hands off her'

Sounds like a match made in heaven for the Voting Public to fall in Love with, just like they did with John Segeant and Kristina last year.

John Sergeants Spirit will be reincarnated this year, and live on with Joe Calzaghe this years peoples champion, the voting public will finally have their say this year.

No way. Papers have been painting her as a man-eater for a while and some people seem to have bought into it. Others have decided that she is obviously to blame for the papers going ridiculously over the top with coverage of her and Joe.

I think she starts at the bottom with everyone else - everyone has pros and cons - and dancing is going to decide how well they do.....as it should do.

Have they already won?

No.

And once more for effect:

No.

He hasn't even put one foot in front of the other yet.

I suppose it was too much to ask for that the words John and Sergeant are not mentioned in this series.

No way - the 'lame duck' and 'lets annoy the judges' vote will go to someone else and being the odds-on favourite tends to work against you (i.e I think only last year the odds on favourite BEFORE the competition (or possibly series two as well as instead of) actually won). I'm pretty sure it would have been Claire Sweeny in series one, it wouldn't have been Goughy at the start of series three, it was Emma Bunton at the start of series four and Kelly Brook at the start of series five. I'm not saying Joe won't win but it's by no means a foregone conclusion.

No........he has as good a chance but not better than anyone else.

He will have a following in Wales and she is a fantastic dancer so as long as he is a reasonable dancer I can see them doing well but not for any reasons from last year.

After the nausea related to seeing the words 'John Sergeant, the people's champion' died down, I was thinking the same thing.

Wind up merchant or Sergeant's agent? You decide...

It was actually Carol Vorderman for series 2!! Just shows you how wrong they can be sometimes!

I actually think Joe Calzaghe will be another Mark Foster ie popular to start with - Mark was a fave to win before he danced - and then get less popular over time.

I just can't see him being any good at the latin dances - I may be wrong, but its my gut instinct

AnthonyJohn, is that you posting under a different name? The style is remarkably similar and you seem to have joined just after AJ got banned!

He's apparently very rhythmical and he will be able to move his feet quickly due to boxing. I think that's quite a good start....

Who knows though until Saturday! I'll be quite surprised if he isn't good at latin.

Can't see any similarity. JS was hopeless and should have gone in the first few weeks. He wasn't funny and wasn't even trying particularly hard relative to anyone else. He didn't even get notably better. You would expect Joe to have a strong work ethic, be fit and probably to have very good footwork - plus he has the standard hunky sportsman finds feminine side journey story underway as soon as he puts sequins on. he looks a good bet - though we will only see if he is able to dance when he does.

There may be joke candidates and people who will get poor marks and attract the anti-judge anarchist vote but Joe is probably a real contender on merit.

Kristina is charming, and a lovely dancer.

I agree with you completely. I think she's wonderful and I'm looking forward to seeing her partnership with Joe. I'm very much a Kristina fan. My point is there has been some unfortunate recent publicity (even if it is wrong) which I fear will influence the strong position she had at the end of last year. I hope it won't affect her much and that people will recognise that much is tabloid rubbish, but some reactions that I've read on here have been a bit negative.

In general - it's a new year and a new celeb and we haven't seen him dance yet. Good dancing will bring them success, not a hangover from last year.

I see what you mean now Erinfan, I am sure Kristina's dancing talent will shine through.

AJ was a troll who tried to big up how John Sergeant was "robbed" of last year's series. The style of this poster is so similar...

Anyway, hope you enjoy the new series. I like Erin too, my favourite professional...

Erin is my favourite of the female professionals. But I must say I did like Kristina last year and I am very glad she has been invited back this year. She did some fab pro routines.
