I'm pretty sure it would have been Claire Sweeny in series one, it wouldn't have been Goughy at the start of series three, it was Emma Bunton at the start of series four and Kelly Brook at the start of series five. I'm not saying Joe won't win but it's by no means a foregone conclusion.”

Wasn't it Austin or Rachel last year?

I always look at 2nd or 3rd to bet on. I think Alesha was 3rd favourite.

I like this bit:

"Joe's amazing... he just keeps going and going"

Hmmmmmmmmmm...................very nice.

However, when it comes to dancing we will have to wait and see, the show hasn't even started yet.

Stupid op btw.

Makes him sound like the Duracell Bunny! Now he would be good. Not sure who is short enough to partner him though!

I suspect that Kristina will be wanting to show what she can produce with a younger fitter partner.
Doubt if she doing anything in memory of JS, esp as I think he is still alive...

Early signs are promising!

Joe's amazing... he just keeps going and going'

She's irresisstable. I can't keep my hands off her'

Sounds like a match made in heaven for the Voting Public to fall in Love with, just like they did with John Segeant and Kristina last year.

John Sergeants Spirit will be reincarnated this year, and live on with Joe Calzaghe this years peoples champion, the voting public will finally have their say this year.

I think Joe the hype around Joe to win this is massively over the top, I've stated in another thread that I think Ricky Whittle or Laila will win this...Ricky just looks like a super slick young good looking guy, pair that with some chemistry with his dancer and...hot stuff on the dance floor.

I just think that despite Joe being quick in the ring with fancy foot work etc it doesn't mean he's going to be good enough to win, imagine Tyson or Amir Khan dancing? Great boxers but imagine them throwing a few shapes to the rumba?! lol.

If you're interested in what bookmakers say then I got this sent to me on facebook, a guy from a betting company tells you what to consider when choosing the winner of SCD. He doesn't give a tip, he lets you make your own conclusion.

www.WhatTheBookiesSay.com - It's a video and makes a lot of sense.

Before I even opened this thread I thought it was AJ back to haunt us again.

The ghost of John Sergeant? Pur-lease. That is the very last thing Strictly needs this year.

But if anyone is going to inherit that mantle, I predict it will be Phil Tuffnell. He's a tabloid favourite after winning I'm A Celebrity ... plus we've already had reports that he isn't training hard enough.

The Joe/Kristina soap opera is a shabby attempt at generating publicity for the show. Much will depend on how he dances, in any case - and we've got a wait ahead before we know the answer to that one ...

In memory of a new year, a new series and a new set of couples.

I'm not sure I'd call AJ a troll really, but he was THE most fanatical poster I have come across on DS (but always polite and never nasty) and drove many of us to the point of...screaming, tearing our hair out, throwing the computer out the window...you name it !

PS Erinfan - IIRC AJ didn't even join DS until January 2009!

It's more than quick foot work making me think Joe will genuinely be good. He apparently has good rhythm as well. You pair the two together and you are onto a good thing in latin. He is also a good build (although maybe a little tall) and seems to hold himself quite well. Add in the fact he's quite a cheeky popular chap and apparently gets on well with Kristina (in general, not talking about the showmance rumours) plus reports that he is training very hard already and I can see why people think he will do well.

It's a completely blind bet at the moment though, as no one has seen him dance and that's what counts. I think he's got a lot going for him though with the little that we know and much more than just the boxer foot work thing.

I actually think quite a few of the couples will turn out to be very good and it could get very competitive at an early stage.

I agree with this post. I think it's unfair to call AJ a troll - he was always polite. He felt quite strongly about things but there are worse crimes!

And then vanished in June after an enormous number of posts - and strangely enough just before the OP joined DS. Curious

If it is the same person, I most sincerely hope we don't get John Sergeant thrust down our throats every two minutes again. As mossy said - gone AND forgotten.

He did post on other DS forums - BB I think - and drove them mad too. He was banned a few times for short spells, but I guess at some point the ban became permanent. He certainly posted a huge number of times in a short period!

Austin pre-comp surprises me - he didn't seem to be particularly tipped BEFORE he took to the dance floor. Rachel would make sense though.

Anyone starting countless threads on the same subject, ie, spamming will be banned.

If I find a poster irritating then I don't read the threads they start.

But did he genuinely feel strongly about it or was he just doing it to wind people up? If it's the latter that's still a troll in my book.

It practically drove me to drink at the time.......those multiple threads reiterating the same old same old, and every time I read the words good old John I felt like hoicking a rope over a beam.

Did nobody watch Floyd Mayweather on DWTS? I don't think boxing and dancing mix very well.
